About the role

Borrowell is looking for a Sr. Technical GEO/SEO Specialist to help fulfill Borrowell’s mission of making people feel confident about money. You’ll own how Canadians discover us through search engines and AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews.

You’ll lead our organic and AI visibility strategy end to end, from working with Engineering to building content that humans and engines trust and cite, including leveraging real member stories and Borrowell’s proprietary data insights.

This role is for a curious, data-driven, technically proficient person who understands content and user experience.

Key Responsibilities

- AI and search visibility strategy: Own Borrowell’s SEO and GEO strategy and roadmap. Set priorities and track rankings, AI citations, and share of voice across search and answer engines.
- Technical SEO & GEO: Ensure our website is following best practices, including crawlability, indexation, JavaScript rendering, Core Web Vitals, and schema/markup across English and French pages.
- Content architecture: Design topic clusters, internal linking, and scalable page templates (e.g., product and comparison pages) structured so answer engines can extract and cite them.
- First-party content: Work cross-functionally to surface member stories and proprietary data insights. Turn them into articles, reports, and newsworthy stories that get cited.
- Industry Trends: Stay on top of developments in search, AI answer engines, social platforms and content marketing, and bring new ideas and best practices to the team

Requirements

- Experience: 3+ years in a technical SEO/GEO/content role, with a track record of scaling content to meet business objectives and KPIs (e.g., traffic, signups, revenue)
- Storytelling: Experience with turning complex topics and data into clear, compelling stories across formats, ideally related to YMYL themes
- A clear point of view on GEO/AEO: how answer engines choose sources, and how you measure and improve citations

- Data and technical fluency: Google Search Console, GA4, Google Tag Manager, Semrush/Ahrefs, an LLM visibility tool (e.g., Profound), a BI tool like Looker, JavaScript rendering, crawl tools, schema, and ability to use dev tools to diagnose issues yourself

Nice to haves

- Experience at a fintech, financial services company, startup, or scaleup
- Experience with a headless CMS (e.g., Contentful), modern JS frameworks, bilingual (EN/FR) sites

Benefits

- The Opportunity - join and have a major impact at a growing company that is helping Canadians feel confident about money.

- Comprehensive Health Benefits - medical, dental, vision, and paramedical health benefits for you and your family, with extra yearly coverage for psychotherapists and massage therapists
