Build an Aviation Career You’re Proud Of

At StandardAero, we use our ingenuity and know-how to find solutions for the simple to the most complex challenges in aviation. Together, we get the job done and done well. Our stability, resources, and respectful culture supports you in building a solid career with a great team you can count on day in and day out for the long term.

As the Manager, Technical Training you will lead the design, delivery, and monitoring of classroom and on-the-job training that builds a skilled industrial workforce. This is a hands-on leadership role; you will study the jobs people actually perform, determine the skills each job requires, build structured on-the-job training (OJT) that closes the gap, and track results to confirm that people are competent, not just trained. You will partner closely with operations, engineering, quality, safety, and HR leaders, and you will lead a small team of trainers to deliver technical and soft skills training. Additionally, you will work with the SR Learning & Development Manager to develop and deliver soft skills training to meet the needs of the business.

Responsibilities

- Partner with business leaders. Build lasting relationships with operations, engineering, quality, safety, and HR leaders, and consult with them on linking training to work processes and business results.
- Assess jobs and determine required skills. Conduct job and task analyses on the shop floor, observing the work, interviewing technicians, supervisors, and subject matter experts, and reviewing work instructions and OEM, regulatory, and quality documentation, to define the knowledge, skills, and proficiency level each job requires.
- Create on-the-job training programs. Design structured OJT with task lists, training objectives, step-by-step guides, checklists, and sign-off criteria, and prepare the OJT trainers and mentors who will deliver it at the workstation.
- Build and maintain the training requirements matrix. Establish training criteria for every job title and translate job analysis results into clear competency standards, qualification levels, and training paths.
- Deliver and facilitate training. Facilitate learning solutions for all levels of the organization and lead train-the-trainer sessions that develop instructors, mentors, and technical experts.
- Lead a team of OJT trainers and manage resources. Build, develop, and lead the training team; balance decisions across workloads, budgets, and capabilities; and plan resource deployment with leadership.
- Monitor and verify OJT effectiveness. Track trainee progress against the OJT plan, observe and evaluate performance on the job, review sign-offs for consistency, give feedback to trainees and trainers, and confirm that learning transfers to safe, quality work.
- Measure training effectiveness. Build feedback systems for trainers and trainees, analyze performance and quality measures, and report results and improvement actions to business leaders.
- Carry out special projects as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Adult Learning, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years in industrial on-the-job training experience with a proven record of creating, implementing, and monitoring OJT programs in an industrial, manufacturing, or MRO setting.
- This position requires access to export-controlled information. As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must qualify as a U.S. Citizen under applicable U.S. export control laws.

Desired Skills

- Job and task analysis experience with cross-functional collaboration: demonstrated ability to assess jobs, determine the skills and proficiency each requires, and turn that into training requirements, competency standards, and training matrices.
- A&P license or aerospace component repair certification
- Experience in an aerospace MRO / component repair environment
- Has a proven track record of designing, developing, implementing, and facilitating high impact learning solutions in an industrial setting, using a variety of innovative approaches.
- Experience leading and developing people, including trainers, instructors, or mentors.
- Aerospace MRO / component repair experience is a differentiator
- Experience using an LMS or similar system to assign, track, and report training and to maintain audit-ready records.
- Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with all levels, from shop floor employees through senior leadership.
- Experience working in a regulated or compliance-driven environment, including training documentation, audits, and adherence to internal and external requirements; aerospace industry experience is a differentiator.
- Applied knowledge of instructional design and curriculum development, including e-learning via LMS systems and hands-on methods.
