About this role

At Tesla, we're revolutionizing the future of sustainable abundance, and our Residential Energy Support organization is at the forefront of this transformation. Our skilled support teams offer world-class white glove service for our vast fleet of residential solar, storage, and home charging products, and this all starts with a great training experience.

The Residential Energy Support Training Operations team creates, manages, and facilitates a wide variety of educational material. Beyond the classroom, we coordinate post-training support centered around mentorship and quality to ensure newcomers to our workforce are set up for long-term success and confidence in their roles.

We're seeking an experienced Sr. Learning Experience Designer who will conceptualize and create engaging educational content designed to enhance the training experience of multiple teams across the Energy organization by analyzing training needs, designing solutions aligned with learning objectives, and creating instructional content that supports key performance indicators.  A strong sense of creativity, out-of-the-box thinking, and problem-solving skills are required for success in this role.

The ideal candidate is an experienced designer and graphic artist, highly organized, and a stakeholder-savvy operator who can turn business needs into cohesive learning programs. Candidates should thrive at an intersection of creativity, education, and project management, bring strong judgment in balancing urgency with delivery, and find fulfillment in creating and refining thoughtful, high quality content to enable audiences of varying sizes.

- Assess needs by leading with strong and consistent questioning, engaging with new products and processes, and understanding what problems are needing to be solved
- Determine learning objectives with stakeholders, building around them when they remain ambiguous, then developing high-quality content through immersive research and regular collaboration with business partners and learner end users
- Review the work with experts/stakeholders, record pilot feedback, and refine as needed until needs are met, delivering drafts and finalized content on a pre-determined timeline, within a reasonable time frame
- Design and maintain materials including creating graphics, diagrams, and animations while styling the content so it is professional, uniform, and clear, and leveraging trade experts for help with complex tasks (i.e. video creation)
- Utilize a team-owned ticketing system to maintain your workload, collaborate, and keep others informed on progress
- Administer content and evaluate training progress and success via LMS
- Measure success of programs through stakeholder collaboration and learner experience audits

- 5+ years of experience in instructional design, technical writing, training content development, or related experience in a high-tech or product-centric environment
- Strong understanding of, and ability to critically apply core concepts of training, curriculum development, and adult learning theory, including training environments and tools such as an LMS, in scoping, creating, and delivering content aligned with business needs
- Graphic design experience and styling expertise, with the ability to build content in a professional manner and with the intention to delight the learner
- Eagerness and ability to work in a fast-paced environment where objectives and responsibilities may need to quickly adapt; demonstrated understanding of renewable energy products, electrical concepts, or technical systems is a plus
- Proven ability to build, run, prioritize, track and report on systems that convert requests into structured execution and manage content and curriculums end-to-end, with high organization and attention to detail across backlog hygiene, ticket quality, timelines, and follow-through, and proficiency in MS Office Suite and work management tools such as Jira
- Strong cross-functional partnership skills with experience driving work across stakeholders who do not report to you
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with composure, approachability, and the ability to set expectations, simplify complexity, influence decisions, and hold others accountable
