The Role

About Lord Abbett

Lord Abbett is a global, active asset manager, founded in 1929. As an independent, private partnership, we think in decades, not quarters. That long-term perspective shapes how we invest, how we build our business, and how we develop our people.

Today, we serve clients around the world with investment capabilities across public and private markets. We build with intention, focusing our expertise where we believe active management can make a difference. Our independence gives us the freedom to think differently, invest for the long term, and act decisively when opportunities emerge.

The same principles shape how we work. We set high standards, value independent thinking, and expect people to take real ownership of their work. We invest in people who are curious, collaborative, and motivated to make an impact for our clients and the firm.

Lord Abbett is seeking aspiring software developers with a passion for coding and high standards for deliverables to join our Technology Associate Internship Program. This program offers real-world software development training while providing exposure to the asset management industry. Interns will get the opportunity to work alongside professionals within Lord Abbett's Client Services, Investments, Corporate Services, and Global Enterprise Technology teams. Upon successful completion of the internship, qualified candidates may be considered for a full-time role in our Technology Associate Program beginning in July 2028.

We’ll trust you to:

- Contribute to high-impact initiatives by developing business-critical solutions that address real challenges and deliver measurable value to stakeholders

- Engage in hands-on software engineering activities, including designing, coding, testing, and deploying applications that support investment workflows. Learn best practices in system architecture, data integration, and agile development within a real-world financial technology environment

- Learn about our sales and marketing processes, corporate functions, and key asset classes including equities, fixed income, and municipal bonds, along with their associated data and analytics

- Work closely with a dedicated mentor who will provide guidance, feedback, and support throughout the internship

You'll need to have:

- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or a related field with eligibility for full-time employment in Summer 2028

- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java or Python, or a demonstrated interest in cybersecurity, with foundational knowledge of technologies including databases, messaging systems, and cloud platforms

- Strong coding skills in a modern object-oriented language, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and frameworks

- Self-motivated and resourceful, with the ability to research, troubleshoot, and resolve issues independently

- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities, with a keen ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions

- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, including clear articulation of ideas, active listening, and professional presentation

- Genuine curiosity and desire to learn about the Asset Management industry and its technology landscape

Why Lord Abbett?
