We are looking for a Senior Social Worker to join our Countywide Forensic Mental Health Team within Adult Social Care on a permanent basis.
This is an opportunity to use your social work expertise in a specialist and rewarding area of practice, working with adults with complex needs and supporting positive outcomes in the community. While experience within forensic or mental health settings would be beneficial, we equally welcome applications from qualified Social Workers from other areas who can demonstrate strong transferable skills and an interest in developing their experience within forensic mental health.
At Suffolk County Council, we want you to have a rewarding career while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. You will be supported to develop your practice, share your expertise and make a meaningful difference to the adults you work with.
Reimagine the possibilities.
Senior Social Workers are passionate in demonstrating expert and effective practice in complex situations. Managing your own complex caseload, as well as supporting your colleagues with theirs, you will be a source of specialist advice and enable the mitigation of high levels of risk. You will also bring professional expertise to contribute to the development of practice standards. You will have experience in developing strong working relationships with partners, other agencies, and the voluntary sector to deliver improved outcomes.
What you will need
You will bring significant social work experience, with the confidence to model good practice and provide advice and guidance in complex situations. You will be able to support and mentor both newly qualified and experienced colleagues and have a strong understanding of current legislation, regulations and professional guidance.
You will also need:
- to be a qualified and registered Social Worker who has completed their Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
- evidence of two years' continuing professional development and the ability to practise in line with current professional standards
- an in-depth understanding of the financial implications of commissioned care packages
- the ability to make clear, informed decisions and effectively identify and manage risks associated with intervention
- a valid driving licence and access to personal transport.
You can view a full list of requirements in the Job and Person Profile (JPP), which you can find in the ‘How to apply’ section towards the bottom of this advert.
If you believe you can succeed in this role, apply. Even if you don't meet all requirements, still apply. We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.
