Fleet and Facilities Interface Specialist

·         Key role connecting fleet, facilities and maintenance operations.

·         Work across Victoria's regional rail network.

·         Free myki travel across regional Victoria.

V/Line’s purpose is to connect Victorians through safe, reliable, and accessible transport. We believe in giving all Victorians opportunities through travel and transport – connecting them to jobs, education, family and friends, services, tourism and trade.

V/Line is experiencing significant growth and we’re delivering more services, more trains, cheaper fares, and huge projects. With more than 3700 weekly train and coach services, an expansive freight network and unprecedented rail investment, millions of Victorians depend on us to deliver. You could be one of our 3100 committed team members who are up to the challenge.

Are you someone who enjoys working across teams, building strong relationships and keeping complex operational environments running smoothly? We're looking for a Fleet & Facility Interface Specialist to act as the link between fleet operations, maintenance providers, facilities teams and key stakeholders. This is an opportunity to work in a varied role where you'll help ensure critical maintenance activities, contractual obligations and asset improvements are delivered to support reliable train services across Victoria.

About the role

The Fleet & Facility Interface Specialist is responsible for coordinating the relationship between fleet operations, maintenance contractors, facilities teams and other stakeholders to ensure facilities supporting train maintenance remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose.

The role focuses on governance, contract oversight and stakeholder coordination, ensuring maintenance activities are delivered in line with contractual requirements and operational needs. Working across a range of sites and stakeholders, you'll support asset condition monitoring, asset improvement initiatives and the ongoing operation of fleet maintenance facilities.

This is a hands-on role that requires regular engagement with stakeholders and time spent on-site to understand issues, build relationships and help drive outcomes.

Key accountabilities include :

·         Operate as the primary interface between Fleet Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, and external service providers to ensure effective maintenance delivery, coordination, and compliance.

·         Build and maintain positive working relationships across a broad stakeholder group.

·         Monitor and support compliance with maintenance and service delivery obligations.

·         Ensure all fleet-related facilities maintenance activities are undertaken in accordance with legislative requirements, industry standards, contractual obligations, and organisational policies and procedures.

·         Conduct site inspections, audits, condition assessments, and compliance reviews to verify asset performance, identify safety risks, and drive continuous improvement.

·         Manage and monitor contractor and supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, service level agreements, safety requirements, quality standards, and delivery expectations.

·         Lead the development and implementation of maintenance plans, works programs, lifecycle strategies, and long-term asset management initiatives.

·         Ensure fleet-associated facilities, buildings, infrastructure, fuel points and related assets are maintained to support safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant operations.

·         Lead the identification, investigation, and management of facility-related risks, incidents, defects, and corrective actions.

·         Maintain a strong focus on safety, compliance and operational continuity.

Location: Primarily Melbourne-based, with engagement across other locations as required.

About you

You bring experience working in environments where multiple stakeholders, competing priorities and service providers need to be effectively coordinated. You're confident building relationships, navigating complexity and influencing outcomes through collaboration rather than direct authority.

You have a practical understanding of maintenance, facilities or asset management environments and can quickly understand contractual obligations, identify issues and work with stakeholders to achieve the right outcome.

Most importantly, you're comfortable being visible and engaged with stakeholders, balancing governance and oversight responsibilities with a practical, hands-on approach.

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

·         Experience working in a facilities, maintenance, asset management or similar operational environment.

·         Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.

·         Experience working across multiple teams, contractors and service providers.

·         Demonstrated governance, compliance or contract management experience.

·         Ability to interpret contractual requirements and coordinate follow-up actions.

·         Strong organisational and coordination skills.

·         Sound analytical and problem-solving capability.

·         Ability to work effectively within a complex stakeholder environment.

·         Experience supporting operational or maintenance-related activities.

·         Commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.

·         Demonstrated alignment with V/Line's values, with a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement and delivery of outcomes.

If your skills or experience don’t exactly match our listed requirements, we still encourage you to apply. We value diverse perspectives and believe in the potential for growth and development.
