About this role
Apple is looking for an experienced payments business development manager with deep product acumen, practical market knowledge and trusted relationships across Southeast Asia. You will develop and grow partnerships with local payment partners, particularly eWallets, real-time payment (RTP) providers and mobile carriers, to improve how customers access and pay for Apple services.
The role has three primary areas of accountability: growing payment partnerships, leading payment channel integrations and product optimisation end to end, and orchestrating partner and cross-functional collaboration to grow the Apple Services business in the region. You will work primarily with the Apple Media Products (AMP) payments product team and local Apple Services teams, while mobilising regional and global stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of experience in the Southeast Asian payments industry, with substantial responsibility for business development, strategic partnerships or commercial relationship management.
Strong payment product knowledge and demonstrated experience working with product teams to evaluate solutions, define requirements, influence roadmaps and drive implementation. Able to contribute well-reasoned product recommendations for both new partner integrations and the optimisation of existing payment products. Relevant experience may come from a product role or from substantial product-facing business development or partnership work.
Deep, practical knowledge of Southeast Asia’s payment markets and alternative payment products, particularly eWallets, QR-based payments and RTP. Able to assess a specific local method’s customer experience, end-to-end payment flow, market adoption and suitability for Apple Services, with a working understanding of integration models, APIs, payment and refund flows, and settlement.
An established and actively maintained network across Southeast Asia’s payments ecosystem, including trusted relationships with senior leaders at major eWallet providers and other relevant payment institutions. Able to use these relationships to obtain timely market intelligence.
A proven record of establishing and expanding strategic partnerships with eWallets or other payment institutions, supported by measurable commercial results. Able to identify decision makers, build internal champions, establish executive sponsorship and turn an initial agreement into a sustained, growing relationship. Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills, with the ability to maximise long-term value for Apple while addressing the partner’s core needs.
Demonstrated ability to lead and mobilise cross-functional teams without formal authority. Experience securing executive sponsorship and product or engineering resources through persuasive business cases, thoughtful prioritisation and clear ownership of outcomes.
Strong data and analytical skills, with the ability to source, triangulate and interpret market, partner and performance data. Skilled in opportunity sizing, adoption and transaction-share analysis, business case development and performance measurement; uses data as the basis for recommendations, prioritisation and decisions.
Excellent written and verbal communication in English, with the ability to engage senior executives and explain payment and product concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
An independent, resourceful and collaborative working style, with strong ownership, sound judgement and the ability to deliver through ambiguity and competing priorities.
A resourceful and creative problem-solver who can think outside the box and deliver results even with limited resources.
Preferred Qualifications
Formal product management experience, particularly in payments or digital services.
Deep understanding of card payments, including issuing, acquiring, card networks, tokenisation, authentication and authorisation optimisation. Experience in Apple Pay is highly preferred.
Experience with gaming, digital content or subscription businesses.
