About the role

Over the past two years we have automated much of our revenue cycle on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, including Subscription Billing. We are now looking for a senior revenue accountant to run that process, make it audit-ready to listed-company standards, and finish the automation that remains.

Our revenue is varied and high-volume: consumer subscriptions sold online and through app stores, multi-year business contracts, technology licensing and revenue-share partnerships, and professional services sold directly and through channel partners. You will own how this revenue is recognised, reconciled and controlled.

What you will do

Run the revenue close

- Own the monthly revenue close across entities: deferral schedules, recognition, short- and long-term reclassification and month-end cut-off.

- Prepare and post IFRS 15 adjustments, including contract liabilities, contract assets and capitalised costs of obtaining contracts.

- Reconcile revenue and deferred revenue between the ERP sub-ledger, the general ledger, the data warehouse and the consolidation system, and resolve differences.

- Prepare revenue disclosures and support quarterly reviews and the annual audit.

Make it audit-ready

- Own the revenue controls: design, operation, evidence and remediation of any deficiencies, working with the SOX and internal control teams.

- Make sure system reports used as audit evidence are complete and accurate, and that automated controls work as designed.

Finish the automation

- Act as the business owner of revenue in Dynamics 365: write requirements, run user acceptance testing, sign off changes and prioritise the revenue backlog with the ERP team.

- Move remaining spreadsheet-based IFRS 15 calculations into system-supported, controlled processes.

- Diagnose revenue and deferral defects and drive them to resolution with functional consultants and developers.

Advise the business

- Review non-standard contracts with Sales and Legal, determine the accounting treatment and document it in position papers.

- Provide deferred revenue and remaining performance obligation inputs to FP&A for forecasting.

- Support FP&A team in forecasting Deferred Costs.

- Work with FP&A team to perform revenue analysis.

- Train colleagues in Finance, Sales and Operations on revenue policy and how it applies to their work.

What you need

- At least 5 years in revenue accounting in multinational company, or in Big 4 audit or advisory with a substantial IFRS 15 focus, including at least 2 years hands-on in revenue.

- Applied IFRS 15 judgment: performance obligations, principal versus agent, licensing including sales-based royalties, variable consideration and contract costs.

- Experience in a SOX or comparable internal control environment as a control owner or performer, including evidencing and remediation.

- A key-user role in at least one ERP or revenue system implementation or major automation, such as Dynamics 365, SAP RAR, NetSuite ARM or Zuora.

- Strong data skills: reconciling large datasets across systems, and advanced Excel.

- Fluent English, written and spoken.

Nice to have

- Dynamics 365 F&O, especially Subscription Billing and revenue deferrals.

- SQL or Power BI.

- ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualification, completed or in progress.

- OneStream or another EPM tool.

- Experience in SaaS, subscription or software licensing businesses.

- Jira and Confluence.
