About this role
Key Responsibilities
API Development and Integration
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain integrations between applications, services, databases, and external systems using RESTful APIs.
- Develop and configure API requests, endpoints, and integration workflows to support reliable data exchange between systems.
- Implement data mapping, transformation, validation, and serialization processes to ensure compatibility between integrated platforms.
- Work with JSON, XML, and other structured data formats to support data exchange and interoperability.
- Integrate with internal and third-party APIs while adhering to established technical standards and interface specifications.
- Support API versioning, backward compatibility, and integration changes as systems and requirements evolve.
- Collaborate with development teams to resolve interface dependencies and ensure successful integration across application environments.
Integration Testing and Troubleshooting
- Develop and execute integration tests to validate API functionality, data accuracy, response handling, and system interoperability.
- Use API testing tools such as Postman or comparable tools to validate requests, responses, status codes, and error handling.
- Troubleshoot API connectivity issues, authentication failures, data discrepancies, performance issues, and integration errors.
- Implement appropriate logging, monitoring, retry mechanisms, and exception handling to improve integration reliability.
- Document defects, investigate root causes, and coordinate with technical teams to implement corrective actions.
- Support integration testing, user acceptance testing, and production deployment activities.
Security and Performance
- Implement API authentication and authorization mechanisms, such as OAuth 2.0, API keys, and token-based authentication, as appropriate to the integration.
- Follow established security practices for data transmission, credential management, access controls, and sensitive information handling.
- Apply appropriate input validation, error handling, and secure coding practices to protect integrated systems.
- Monitor integration performance and identify opportunities to improve response times, reliability, and scalability.
- Support compliance with organizational, customer, and applicable regulatory requirements for data privacy and security.
Documentation and Collaboration
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including API specifications, integration workflows, data mappings, configuration details, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaborate with software developers, data engineers, QA personnel, architects, and business stakeholders to define integration requirements.
- Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, integration planning, and deployment activities.
- Support the maintenance and enhancement of existing integrations as business and technical requirements change.

- At least 3 years of professional experience in systems integration, API development, application development, or a related technical field.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience developing, implementing, or supporting RESTful API integrations.
- Strong understanding of REST principles, HTTP methods, status codes, request and response structures, and API design concepts.
- Experience working with JSON and other structured data formats, including XML where applicable.
- Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or C#.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting APIs using Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI tools, or comparable technologies.
- Understanding of API authentication and authorization methods, including OAuth 2.0, API keys, or token-based authentication.
- Experience diagnosing integration failures, validating data exchanges, and resolving technical issues across connected systems.
- Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage assigned integration tasks independently while collaborating effectively with technical teams.
- Must live in the Continental US.
- Be either a US citizen or Permanent Resident due to the work we do.
- Depending on agency requirements, you may need to possess or obtain a Public Trust designation or security clearance. Regardless of the specific requirement, all positions require the successful completion of a background check, background investigation, and the standard onboarding process.
