About this role
Get to know us betterCodiLime is a software and network engineering industry expert and the first-choice service partner for top global networking hardware providers, software providers and telecoms. We create proofs-of-concept, help our clients build new products, nurture existing ones and provide services in production environments. Our clients include both tech startups and big players in various industries and geographic locations (US, Japan, Israel, Europe). While no longer a startup - we have 250+ people on board and have been operating since 2011 we’ve kept our people-oriented culture. Our values are simple:Act to deliver.Disrupt to grow.Team up to win.The project and the teamYou will join the team behind a leading network source-of-truth (NSoT) platform, used by thousands of organizations - from fast-growing tech companies to Fortune 500 enterprises - to model, document, and automate their network infrastructure.CodiLime engineers work within the platform's Observability team, which builds the software responsible for network discovery and reconciliation (keeping the platform's documented network state in sync with what is actually discovered on the network), network observability and monitoring, as well as the agents and fleet management that collect data from customer networks. The team develops both closed-source and open-source components, used by the product's large community. Observability is a key part of network automation: it keeps the platform's view of the network accurate and up to date. The platform is built AI-first, with its own Claude Code agent skills and MCP server, and that mindset carries over to how the team works: AI-assisted development is actively cultivated day to day to help the team move fast and consistently land high-quality results. The scale is significant - some of the platform's largest customers manage hundreds of thousands of devices, each with multiple interfaces, across globally distributed environments. As the observability offering keeps growing, the team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer who can strengthen coverage in US time zones.Technology stack:Programming languages: Go (primary language), Python (tests and tooling)APIs: gRPC, Connect RPC, with ProtobufData & messaging: PostgreSQL (including migrations), Redis, RabbitMQArchitecture: multi-tenant services, event-driven systemsSecurity: OAuth2 / OIDCObservability: OpenTelemetry, metrics and instrumentation, Grafana, PrometheusNetwork & device protocols: SNMP, gNMI, CLI-based collection, MQTTContainerization & Orchestration: Docker (Docker Compose for local/test environments), KubernetesCloud: AWSCI/CD: GitHub Actions, AnsibleAI tooling: Claude Code, MCP servers, Anthropic toolingWhat else you should know:Small, cross-functional team with strong ownership of code quality, security and testsThe team is distributed across Europe and the US, and we are looking for someone to strengthen coverage in US time zones (ideally Eastern Time), including customer support, production issues and on-callAI tools are part of the daily workflow, including AI-assisted test writing and internal data/feed management toolingThis is a backend-focused roleStartup-like vibe: proactive, ownership-driven, fast-pacedWe work on multiple interesting projects at a time, so it may happen that we’ll invite you to an interview for another project if we see that your competencies and profile are well suited for it.Your roleAs a part of the project team, you will be responsible for:Designing and building Go services for network discovery and reconciliation, network observability and monitoring, and agents and fleet managementDesigning multi-tenant ingestion pipelines for network device data, with clear delivery guarantees, idempotency and predictable behavior under loadCollecting device identity and state from network devices using protocols such as SNMP, gNMI and CLIBuilding and evolving gRPC and Connect RPC APIs defined in Protobuf, and working with PostgreSQL, Redis and RabbitMQInstrumenting services with OpenTelemetry and keeping metrics clean and meaningfulExploring and applying AI-assisted engineering practices - such as interactive, Claude Code-driven testing flows - to make development and testing faster and more reliableWriting technical specifications with diagrams and contributing to architecture and design decisionsSupporting customers, production issues and on-call in US time zonesWriting clean, maintainable, well-tested code and participating in code reviewsDo we have a match? As a Senior Software Engineer, you must meet the following criteria:5+ years of professional software engineering experienceStrong professional experience with GoExperience with gRPC and/or Connect RPC APIs defined in ProtobufExperience with PostgreSQL (including migrations), Redis and RabbitMQExperience with multi-tenant services and OAuth2 / OIDCDeep knowledge of observability and instrumentation, including OpenTelemetryFluency and experience with Docker, Docker ComposeExperience with KubernetesExperience with event-driven systems, including at-least-once delivery and idempotent consumersSolid understanding of networking: devices, configuration, protocols and layersCI/CD experience (ideally GitHub Actions)Hands-on, everyday use of AI coding tools (ideally Claude Code)Availability to work in US time zones (ideally Eastern Time)Good knowledge of English (minimum C1 level)Beyond the criteria above, we would appreciate the following nice-to-haves:Experience with MQTT or other device/IoT protocols, or gNMIExperience with Python, pytest, Django, FastAPI, RESTExperience with Swagger and/or PostmanExperience with Playwright or other E2E testing frameworksExperience with Cloud computing (Ideally AWS, e.g. EC2, S3, EKS)More reasons to join usFlexible working hours and approach to work: fully remotely, in the office or hybridProfessional growth supported by internal training sessions and a training budgetSolid onboarding with a hands-on approach to give you an easy startA great atmosphere among professionals who are passionate about their workThe ability to change the project you work on
