About this role
Software Developer
Build the internal applications that run a growing engineering firm
Mississauga, ON
Full-time, permanent
About the opportunity
PRI is a multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consulting firm with offices across British Columbia, Alberta, Nova Scotia, and Ontario, growing toward 300 people. Rather than bend the business around off-the-shelf software, we build many of our own internal applications: business systems that run the firm, and technical tools that support our engineering and environmental practices. They run on our own Azure platform and integrate with our core enterprise systems.
We are hiring a Software Developer to join that effort, working under our Lead Full-Stack Developer. You will take applications from scope to production: designing data models, building APIs and front ends, integrating with our ERP, CRM, and other enterprise systems, and supporting what you ship. Some of what you build runs the business; some of it helps engineers and scientists do their technical work faster and more consistently, which means working closely with our Practice Leads to turn engineering methods and workflows into reliable software. The users are your colleagues down the hall, so feedback is immediate and the impact is visible. We expect you to use AI coding tools as a normal part of how you work, and to care as much about the people using the software as the code behind it.
What you'll do
- Design, build, test, and ship internal web applications end to end: database, API, and user interface.
- Build and maintain integrations with the firm's ERP, CRM, HR, payroll, and Microsoft 365 systems through their APIs.
- Deploy and operate applications on Azure (App Service, Functions, SQL, Entra ID single sign-on) across test and production environments, with source control, CI/CD, and monitoring.
- Work with internal stakeholders in HR, finance, operations, and the commercial team to turn a scope into working software, and iterate on their feedback.
- Build technical applications with the engineering and environmental practices, with the engineers owning the method and you owning the software.
- Handle multi-entity data correctly: several legal entities, one org chart, and documents that must show the right company name.
- Protect employee and client data: role-based access, audit trails, secure handling of sensitive records.
- Write clear documentation and keep the codebase maintainable, so the next developer can pick up your work.
- Support and improve applications already in production, and help retire the third-party tools they replace.
What you bring
Required
- Degree or diploma in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3 or more years building and shipping web applications in a modern stack (for example C# and .NET or Node and TypeScript on the back end, React or similar on the front end, and SQL).
- Hands-on experience integrating with third-party systems through REST APIs, including authentication, pagination, and error handling.
- Experience deploying and running applications in Azure or a comparable cloud, with Git-based workflows and CI/CD.
- Solid relational data modelling and SQL skills.
- Daily, practical use of AI coding assistants, and the judgment to review what they produce.
- Clear communication with non-technical users, and the ownership to see a feature through to adoption, not just to merge.
Preferred
- Experience integrating with a project-based ERP (such as Deltek Vantagepoint) or a CRM platform.
- Experience building internal business or workflow applications for a non-technical audience.
- Entra ID (Azure AD) authentication, Microsoft Graph, Power BI, or Power Platform experience.
- Exposure to engineering or scientific work: numerical or calculation-heavy applications, data pipelines, GIS or geospatial data, mobile or offline field data capture, or document generation.
- Exposure to professional-services or engineering firms and how they bill time.
Why PRI
- Greenfield work on a real internal product roadmap, used every day by 150 colleagues and growing.
- A small team with real ownership: you will design and ship, not maintain tickets.
- Modern tooling and a leadership team that funds building rather than buying.
- Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and support for professional development.
PRI is an equal-opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, and we particularly encourage applications from Indigenous professionals.
