About the role
We are looking for an experienced Cabinet Support Manager to lead the effective running of the Leader’s Office and Cabinet support service. This is a high-profile opportunity to shape a responsive, professional and trusted function at the heart of the Council, ensuring executive business, casework, correspondence, diaries and governance processes are coordinated seamlessly.
You will lead and develop a team providing comprehensive support to the Leader and Cabinet Members. You will set clear standards, strengthen ways of working and create the resilience needed to respond to changing political and organisational priorities.
You will oversee high-volume casework and correspondence, executive diary arrangements, briefings and Cabinet activity, making sure information is accurate, timely and appropriately handled. Working closely with Members, senior officers and external partners, you will use sound judgement to anticipate issues, manage sensitive matters and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, governance and service.
• Significant experience of providing senior-level executive support in a complex, fast-paced organisation.
• Proven leadership and people-management skills, with the ability to build a high-performing and adaptable team.
• Experience of managing high-volume correspondence, casework or comparable customer-facing workflows.
• Excellent written communication, organisation and prioritisation skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Sound judgement, discretion and the confidence to operate in a high-profile, politically sensitive environment.
• An understanding of local government, governance and democratic decision-making, or the ability to develop this quickly.
• A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach, with a clear commitment to excellent outcomes for residents.
At Hammersmith & Fulham, we take a different perspective on local government. We want to deliver better outcomes and build a stronger, safer and kinder borough. You will join an ambitious organisation that values compassion, collaboration, inclusivity and continuous improvement, with opportunities to learn, develop and make a visible contribution.
This is an agile role with standard working hours and flexibility required. Regular evening and occasional weekend working will be needed to support Cabinet and civic duties. The post is politically restricted under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
If you are an accomplished leader who can bring structure, pace and excellent judgement to a demanding executive environment, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please use your application to demonstrate clearly how your experience and skills meet the requirements set out in the role profile.
Please refer to the Role Profile for more information.
