Job Description

The Electrical Engineering Supervisor leads a team of Electrical and Controls Engineers responsible for the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of electrical systems and industrial control solutions used in complex engineered products. Based in Calgary, AB, this role combines technical leadership with project and people management responsibilities in a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will ensure designs meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards while driving innovation and continuous improvement across engineering activities.

Responsibilities

- Lead and mentor a team of Electrical and Controls Engineers throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee engineering activities to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet quality expectations.
- Review and approve electrical schematics, control system designs, and supporting documentation.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of electrical layouts, wiring documentation, and technical specifications.
- Guide the design, programming, testing, and implementation of PLC-based control systems.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations to optimize performance, manufacturability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with project managers, operations, manufacturing, and other stakeholders to support project execution.
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues through all phases of product deployment.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, cost optimization, and product performance.
- Develop team capabilities through coaching, mentorship, and technical leadership.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices relevant to electrical engineering and industrial automation.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for registration.
- Minimum 5 years of engineering experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
- Experience designing electrical and control systems within manufacturing or engineered product environments.
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems and PLC programming.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software.
- Familiarity with industrial control panels and electrical system integration.
- Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, including CSA, NEC, NFPA, and IEEE.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills.
- Proven ability to lead and develop engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with industrial equipment, automation systems, or engineered products.
- Exposure to product development and commercialization processes.
- Experience supporting certification and compliance activities.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturing principles.

Work Environment

This role is based in Calgary, AB and operates primarily within a collaborative engineering and manufacturing environment. The position involves close interaction with engineering, operations, manufacturing, and project teams to support the development and delivery of high-quality products. Occasional travel may be required.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
