Welcome from the Principal:
Being part of Outwood Academy City Fields means bringing high-quality opportunities and experiences to our diverse, multicultural school in the heart of Wakefield.
We seek someone who can provide meaningful engagement and help all students, staff, and visitors thrive. Anyone taking on this role should be prepared to challenge themselves to meet the needs of our diverse community.
As Ofsted noted, our actions are directed and guided by putting ‘students first.’ Leaders set a strong example of high ambition, which is mirrored by all staff. We want the very best for our pupils in whatever walk of life they engage in.
Based in the friendly cathedral city of Wakefield, Outwood Academy City Fields is a thriving, "Good" rated school at the heart of a vibrant multicultural community. We are a school of choice, with increasing roll numbers and a rich, inclusive atmosphere:
- Diversity as a Strength: Over 50% of our pupils speak English as an additional language (EAL).
- Social Mobility: We play a vital role in transforming lives and providing high-quality opportunities for families.
- Impactful Leadership: Here, your work bridges the gap between the classroom and the diverse world of work, making a visible difference every single day.
We hope you can join us on our journey. About the Department:
Our results tell a story of rapid improvement and academic excellence:
- Breaking Barriers: Last year, 59.8% of our students achieved at least two Grade 4s or above, and 42.0% achieved at least two Grade 5s or above, meeting the national average and providing them with the essential foundations for their future careers.
- Exceeding National Benchmarks: Our Triple Science outcomes are exceptional, with Biology, Chemistry, and Physics all performing above the national average at Grade 7+.
- Unstoppable Momentum: With our current cohort on track to smash these records, you will be joining us at a time of peak performance and high aspirations.
If you are a practitioner who thrives on seeing students excel at the highest levels and wants to play a key role in a department that refuses to stand still, we want to hear from you. Foremost we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher of science. You will have good subject knowledge, a passion for Science, and want students to love Science as much as we do. As a member of the Outwood Family you will share our vision of “Students First”.
All science lessons are taught in specialist labs contained within a purpose-built building, two of which are part of the new-build. At GCSE we follow the AQA Trilogy Combined Science specification with a small select cohort of students studying the single sciences.
