Description:
Marsh’s Investment Solutions PMO Europe team is seeking an experienced and highly accomplished Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of strategic change initiatives across the investment business.
This is a senior role for an individual who combines strong project delivery discipline with commercial awareness, sound judgement and the ability to influence effectively across a complex, matrixed organisation. The successful candidate will be a confident leader, trusted adviser and credible partner to senior stakeholders, business sponsors, clients and external service providers.
What can you expect?
This is an exciting opportunity to join Marsh’s largest and fastest-growing business area: Investment Solutions.
As part of the PMO Europe team, you will play a central role in supporting and delivering Marsh’s strategic change agenda. Investment Solutions is one of the fastest-growing investment businesses globally, with significant expansion in its client base, operating model and solution offering. The business has an ambitious growth trajectory, creating an exciting environment in which to lead complex and high-impact change.
You will work closely with business sponsors, business owners, senior management, internal stakeholders, external vendors, clients and colleagues across the wider organisation. You will be expected to provide structure, clarity and momentum across multiple workstreams, ensuring that strategic initiatives are delivered successfully and embedded effectively into the business.
We will rely on you to:
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of strategic projects and change initiatives across Investment Solutions, from initiation through to implementation and transition into business-as-usual operations.
- Establish clear project scope, objectives, success measures, deliverables, governance and accountabilities in partnership with sponsors and business owners.
- Develop and maintain robust project plans, delivery roadmaps, dashboards and governance materials.
- Coordinate and prioritise project activity across multiple teams, functions, jurisdictions and third-party organisations to ensure key milestones are achieved.
- Manage project timelines, dependencies and critical paths, ensuring operational, business and client readiness ahead of implementation.
- Provide clear, concise and insightful reporting to stakeholders at all levels of seniority, adapting communication to executive sponsors, steering committees, delivery teams and clients.
- Present project status, key decisions, risks, issues, dependencies and recommended actions to enable timely and effective decision-making.
- Build strong working relationships with business sponsors, senior leaders, subject-matter experts, technology teams, operational colleagues, vendors and clients.
- Lead and facilitate project meetings, workshops, working groups and governance forums, ensuring discussions result in clear decisions, actions and accountability.
- Work closely with third-party service providers and vendors to ensure their deliverables, operational capabilities and implementation plans meet Marsh’s requirements and standards.
- Identify, assess and actively manage project risks, issues, dependencies, assumptions and constraints, escalating matters appropriately and with well-considered recommendations.
- Proactively identify emerging challenges and intervene early to protect delivery timelines, quality, client outcomes and business continuity.
- Ensure projects are delivered within agreed timeframes, budgets and quality standards, while complying with relevant policies, controls and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and maintain high-quality project documentation, including business cases, project plans, RAID logs, status reports, decision logs, action trackers and implementation plans.
- Evaluate project outcomes, capture lessons learned and identify opportunities to improve delivery practices across the PMO.
- Act as a senior delivery leader and trusted adviser, providing challenge, clarity and practical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
What you need to have:
- Significant experience as a Senior Project Manager, Programme Manager or equivalent, ideally with many years’ relevant experience in the funds, asset management, investment consulting, wealth management or broader financial services industry.
- A proven track record of leading and delivering complex, strategically important projects within a regulated and highly controlled environment.
- Strong understanding of investment, asset management or fund operating models, with the credibility to engage effectively with senior business and investment stakeholders.
- Experience managing projects involving multiple business functions, jurisdictions, technology platforms, operational teams and external service providers.
- Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to establish structure, maintain oversight of detail and manage multiple priorities without losing sight of strategic outcomes.
- Highly developed communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively to a wide range of audiences.
- Strong commercial and business judgement, with the ability to understand broader business objectives and translate them into practical delivery plans.
- Demonstrable experience in risk, issue, dependency and change management, with the confidence to identify concerns early and escalate them appropriately.
- The ability to lead through influence rather than formal authority, build alignment and secure commitment across diverse stakeholder groups.
- A collaborative and inclusive leadership style, with the ability to bring people together around a common objective and create an environment of accountability and trust.
- A high degree of emotional intelligence, self-awareness and interpersonal sensitivity, enabling you to navigate competing priorities, challenging conversations and organisational dynamics constructively.
- The resilience and composure to operate effectively in a fast-paced, pressurised environment, particularly during periods of significant change or delivery risk.
- A pragmatic, agile and adaptable approach, with the ability to respond positively to evolving requirements, ambiguity and unexpected challenges.
What makes you stand out :
- A consistent track record of successfully leading complex, high-profile and commercially important projects from concept through to implementation.
- Experience working across asset management, funds, investment solutions, investment consulting or related financial services environments.
- The ability to operate comfortably at both strategic and operational levels, moving between executive discussions and detailed delivery management as required.
- Formal qualifications in project or programme management, such as PRINCE2, PMP, AgilePM or equivalent, are preferred but not essential.
- A reputation for being a trusted adviser who provides constructive challenge, sound judgement and practical solutions.
- Strong executive presence, with the credibility and confidence to engage, influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrable success in leading without direct authority across matrixed teams and a geographically dispersed business.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, clients and third-party providers.
- The ability to create clarity and momentum in complex or ambiguous situations.
- A calm, resilient and solutions-focused approach when managing competing priorities, delivery pressures or difficult situations.
- A strong attention to detail, combined with the ability to maintain a clear focus on strategic outcomes and client value.
