About this role

What You'll Do

The Specialties team is excited to offer an internship for someone interested in the intersection of business strategy, client experience, operations, data, technology, and insurance .

IMA's Specialties team works across industry and product-focused practices to strengthen how specialized expertise is delivered to clients and brought to market. As a Specialties Intern, you'll have the opportunity to work across several of these teams, interact with specialty leaders and subject matter experts, and contribute to projects designed to improve how we operate and serve our clients.

Rather than focusing on one specific insurance function, this internship will provide broad exposure to different areas of the business and give you the opportunity to help solve real business challenges.

Daily responsibilities and projects may include:

- Client Experience: Help map the client journey across select industry practices, identifying important client interactions, resources, services, and opportunities to improve the overall experience.

- Process & Best Practices: Work with specialty teams across different markets to understand how they operate today, document processes and workflows, and identify opportunities to share or scale best practices.

- Content & Resources: Help organize, review, and improve specialty content, tools, presentations, and resources so associates can more easily access and use the best materials available across IMA.

- Data & Insights: Support projects involving business and client data, helping teams organize information, identify trends, and turn data into actionable insights.

- AI & Innovation: Participate in smaller projects exploring how AI and other emerging technologies could improve workflows, knowledge sharing, research, client service, or other aspects of the Specialties business.

- Specialty Strategy: Support additional strategic initiatives, research, and projects focused on strengthening and growing IMA's specialty practices.

- Leadership Exposure: Participate in meetings and working sessions with specialty leaders and subject matter experts to gain exposure to different industries, areas of risk, and career paths within insurance.

You Should Have:

- Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in a program related to one of our host departments (Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management and Insurance)

- Interest in insurance-related roles; involvement in insurance clubs or Gamma Iota Sigma

- Students anticipated to graduate in Spring 2027, December 2027, or Spring 2028

- Previous work or internship experience in a professional services or similar environment

- An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to problem-solve, think critically, and provide creative solutions

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Comfort working across multiple teams and interacting with different levels of the organization.

- An entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and bring forward new ideas.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Benefits:

This internship is designed as a learning and development opportunity and does not include participation in the medical, dental, and vision insurance, and any other benefits program that are provided solely to regular full-time associates. You will, however, enjoy IMA paid holidays and five days of LifeBalance PTO during your internship. The LifeBalance PTO is inclusive of vacation, sick time or personal time.

Compensation:

This position is classified as nonexempt and is paid on an hourly basis. The hourly pay range for IMA interns is 18.00 to 22.00 dollars and is determined by your expected graduating year. You will be paid for all hours worked and will be eligible for overtime in accordance with federal and state wage and hour laws.

Salary Range $18 — $22 USD
