Health & Safety Intern

Want to spend your placement year solving real-world challenges in a complex manufacturing environment?

Join Siemens Healthineers Magnet Technology as a Health & Safety Intern and gain hands-on experience helping to keep our people, processes and operations safe.

You’ll join our Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team at an exciting time for our manufacturing operations. With an established manufacturing site at Eynsham alongside the continued ramp-up of our new, purpose-built facility in Bicester, you’ll gain insight into health and safety across both existing operations and a changing manufacturing environment.

This 12-month internship is about much more than observing. You’ll investigate incidents, analyse data, get out onto the factory floor, contribute to safety improvements and take ownership of projects that can make a genuine difference. Our interns are often involved in developing new processes and implementing improvements that continue to be used after their placement ends. Alongside your role, you’ll take part in our structured Intern Development Programme, developing your broader professional skills alongside your hands-on experience.

What you’ll be doing:

- Investigate incidents and near misses, helping to understand what happened, identify trends and support actions to prevent recurrence.
- Get involved on the factory floor, carrying out workplace inspections and supporting EHS audits.
- Analyse health and safety data, helping to identify trends and prepare reports that support management decisions.
- Support health and safety inductions and awareness activities for employees.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including our Zero Harm Culture and environmental activities.
- Support changes across our manufacturing operations, helping teams consider EHS requirements as new processes and ways of working are introduced.
- Take an active role in our Wellbeing Team, helping to develop and organise activities for employees.

This internship may involve working at either or both of our Eynsham and Bicester sites. While you’ll have a main base, you’ll collaborate with teams across both locations, giving you exposure to different manufacturing environments and the opportunity to see how health and safety supports both established operations and ongoing change.

Work Experience

- You’ll be an undergraduate currently studying towards a Bachelor’s degree, with a 12-month placement or sandwich year as part of your course.
- You’ll have a genuine interest in health and safety and how it supports people and operations within a complex manufacturing environment.
- You’ll be comfortable working with information and data, using it to identify trends and support problem-solving.
- You’ll be a confident communicator, able to work with and build relationships with people across different teams.
- You’ll bring a proactive and curious approach, with the confidence to ask questions, get involved and take ownership of your work.

You must also have eligibility to work in the UK for the duration of the internship ( Summer 2027–Summer 2028 ), as we are unable to offer sponsorship for internship roles.

Benefits

- 26 days' holiday with the option to buy or sell an additional 5 days
- Up to 10% employer pension contribution
- Share and bonus scheme
- Access to our flexible benefits from private medical insurance to dental cover
- Corporate Social Responsibility opportunities including 2 paid volunteering days per year and support from our 24/7 employee assistance programme
