About this role
About the Team
The Identity and Access Management (IAM) team enables secure, seamless access across DoorDash's global engineering and business operations. Our mission is to make access simple, automated, and user-centric, reducing friction through self-service solutions while maintaining strong governance and compliance. We focus on streamlining identity lifecycle processes, modernising access governance, and building scalable controls that enable employees and engineers to work efficiently and securely.
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on IAM leader who can turn strategy into tangible outcomes, combining technical implementation, control ownership, and team leadership. Operating with a global remit, you will partner closely with the UK-based Global Head of IAM to execute our strategy, while leading delivery, resolving operational challenges, and supporting stakeholders across US time zones and the wider business. This requires flexibility to work earlier hours to maximise collaboration with the UK, while maintaining sufficient coverage across US teams. Within your first 60 days, we expect you to have independently delivered measurable improvements in access governance, audit remediation, lifecycle controls, or automation, before taking on responsibility for managing and growing our US IAM engineering team following an initial onboarding period.
You will report into the Global Head of Identity and Access Management on our Identity and Access Management team in our Security organisation.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will…
- Build solutions, not just designs: Architect, configure, and implement IAM improvements using identity platforms, APIs, scripting, and automation, delivering minimum viable solutions quickly while progressing toward scalable strategic designs.
- Enable the business: Simplify access processes through automation, self-service, and data-driven improvements that reduce friction for employees and engineers while maintaining appropriate security controls.
- Lead IAM delivery in the US: Independently prioritise and resolve operational challenges, make risk-informed decisions, deliver against global IAM objectives, and build and develop a high-performing engineering team.
- Create compliance by design: Build agile, automated IAM solutions that meet security and audit requirements by default, embedding effective controls into everyday workflows rather than relying on manual checks and retrospective remediation.
- Shape the future of identity: Advance role-based and attribute-based access models, while exploring emerging opportunities in non-human identity and AI agent governance.
We're excited about you because…
- You have 8+ years of IAM experience, including direct, hands-on ownership of user access reviews, identity lifecycle controls, SoX audit evidence, and remediation of control deficiencies.
- You have proven technical implementation experience, including configuring IAM platforms such as Okta, ConductorOne, Saviynt, SailPoint, or similar tools, and using scripting, APIs, or automation to deliver working solutions.
- You have demonstrated the ability to take ambiguous IAM problems from assessment through design to implementation, balancing immediate risk remediation with long-term scalability and delivering measurable outcomes.
- You have experience leading technical teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders, with the ability to independently set priorities, make decisions, and remain actively involved in engineering and operational delivery.
- You bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, using data to identify control gaps, improve processes, measure outcomes, and balance security, compliance, and user experience.
