About this role

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level.

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within LATAM FX & Rates Engineering, you will be a seasoned member of an agile team. You will design and deliver trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. We are looking for an engineer who brings strong technical skills and the ability to communicate clearly, collaborate across teams, take ownership of outcomes, and act proactively in a fast-paced trading environment.

Job responsibilities

- Own software solutions end-to-end, from design and development through deployment, production support, and continuous improvement. Take accountability for the quality and stability of what you deliver.
- Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, thinking beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
- Create secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with the appropriate systems.
- Collaborate closely with Trading, Sales, Product, and other engineering teams across LATAM and global locations. Turn business needs into technical solutions and keep stakeholders informed on progress, risks, and trade-offs.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences, in writing and verbally.
- Proactively identify hidden problems, risks, and patterns in data and systems. Raise them early, propose solutions, and drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture without waiting to be asked.
- Use enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation). Validate outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards, and share learnings and reusable patterns with the team.
- Apply knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle tools, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value realized by automation.
- Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and be accountable for making sure design constraints are met in code.
- Gather, analyze, and synthesize large, diverse data sets, and build visualizations and reporting for continuous improvement of applications and systems.
- Contribute actively to team ceremonies, code reviews, and knowledge sharing. Support and mentor peers to build a culture of trust, inclusion, and continuous learning.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and applied experience, 3+ years applied experience.
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability for mission-critical, high-volume financial services applications
- Proven experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages — for this role, Java (Spring / Spring Boot) and SQL (Oracle), including MyBatis and/or Hibernate data-access layers
- Experience building and consuming RESTful services and event-driven integrations (Apache Kafka); experience with modern front-end frameworks (Angular / React / TypeScript) is a plus
- Experience operating services on containerized / cloud-native infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes/GKP) with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins / Jules), source control (Bitbucket/Git), and work tracking (JIRA)
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation), with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Interpersonal and professional
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions, escalate issues, and align stakeholders effectively
- Teamwork: Proven ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional, multicultural, and geographically distributed teams
- Proactivity: Self-starter who anticipates problems, proposes improvements, and takes initiative beyond assigned tasks
- Ownership: Strong sense of accountability for deliverables, production stability, and outcomes, from design through support
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and time-sensitive business needs
- Problem-solving and critical thinking: Structured, analytical approach to complex problems and sound judgment on trade-offs
- Continuous learning: Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies, business domains, and practices, and to share knowledge with others
