The Non-Registered Sonographer

- Applies knowledge of lifespan growth and development to provide age-appropriate care to patients served.
- Operates specialized diagnostic ultrasound equipment to obtain quality images in accordance with American College of Radiology standards.
- Performs patient-processing activities, which may include scheduling, registration, file management and computer documentation.
- Evaluates, positions and monitors patients while demonstrating professionalism, compassion, courtesy, patience and attention to safety.
- Complies with Carilion Clinic and Imaging Services policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and safety standards.
- Participates in the training and education of students and staff as assigned.
- Maintains required continuing education and completes activities necessary to obtain professional registry credentials.
- Participates in educational opportunities that support continued personal and professional development.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, visitors and members of the healthcare team.



# What We Require:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology and/or an approved School of Ultrasound, or equivalent training, required.

Experience: None required.

Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Must be registry eligible through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography in one of the following areas: vascular, obstetrics and gynecology, abdominal or neurosonography. AHA-BLS-HCP required.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated interpersonal and technical skills. Must be flexible in accepting assignments. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, manage changing priorities and respond appropriately to stressful or emergency situations. May be required to travel between facilities, participate in on-call coverage and work during emergency weather conditions.

Compensation Range:
$33.52 - $50.28
Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
