About this role
Goelzer is seeking an incoming college senior (Class of 2028) who wants to build a career in wealth management, investment management, or wealth planning and intends to remain in Indiana following graduation. This paid, in-person internship will focus primarily on our Private Wealth division, where the intern will be paired with advisors to gain real-world experience delivering wealth management to high-net-worth individuals and families. The intern will also gain exposure to our investment management and wealth planning capabilities and learn how investment strategy, portfolio management, technology, client service, and relationship management come together to serve our clients.
We view this internship as an opportunity to develop future professionals, not simply fill a summer position. A successful intern may be considered for a full-time Associate Advisor position following graduation.
What You'll Experience
Wealth Management & Wealth Planning
• Learn how advisors build lasting relationships and help individuals and families pursue their financial goals.
• Assist with research, analysis, client meeting preparation, and follow-up activities.
• Gain exposure to comprehensive wealth planning, client service, relationship management, and business development.
• Observe advisor and client interactions when appropriate.
Investment Management
• Gain exposure to investment research, portfolio construction, trading, rebalancing, and portfolio monitoring.
• Assist with portfolio analysis, research, and projects using Excel and other financial technology.
• Participate in investment team discussions and learn how investment decisions are evaluated, communicated, and implemented.
The Broader RIA Experience
• Learn how the teams within an independent registered investment advisory firm collaborate to deliver an exceptional client experience.
• Contribute to special projects and process-improvement initiatives based on firm needs and the intern’s interests and abilities.
• Develop professional communication, analytical, organizational, technology, and relationship-building skills.
• Build relationships with experienced professionals who can provide mentorship and career insight.
You're Set Up for Success If You
• Will be an incoming senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Financial Planning, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• Intend to remain in Indiana following graduation and want to build your career in the Indianapolis/Carmel area.
• Have a genuine interest in wealth management, investment management, wealth planning, or financial services.
• Are curious about both the analytical side of investing and the relationship-driven side of advising clients.
• Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Are proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams and are comfortable learning new systems.
• Have an interest in pursuing credentials or licenses such as the CFP®, CFA®, CAIA®, or Series 65.
The Qualities We Value
The way you approach your work and the people around you matters as much as the skills you bring. We are looking for someone who:
• Is a self-starter who takes initiative and looks for opportunities to contribute.
• Brings a positive, collaborative attitude and treats every person with genuine respect.
• Demonstrates integrity, sound judgment, maturity, professionalism, and discretion.
• Is curious, welcomes feedback, and is committed to continual personal and professional growth.
• Enjoys helping others and takes pride in providing outstanding service.
• Is dependable, organized, attentive to detail, and committed to producing high-quality work.
Where This Internship Can Lead
Our program is designed for students entering their senior year who are beginning to think seriously about where they want to build their careers. Interns who distinguish themselves through initiative, professionalism, curiosity, work quality, commitment to serving others, and alignment with Goelzer’s culture may be considered for future opportunities with the firm, including a full-time Associate Advisor position following graduation.
