Description

Position Summary

The Manager, Inventory Analytics operates as a scaled-down version of the Director’s role — owning recurring inventory analytics, month-end reporting, and routine decisions, while the Director retains the strategic and higher-risk calls. This role leads a cross-functional team spanning inventory planning, transactional support, and inventory systems/process — giving day-to-day direction across all three, with its own decision ownership within defined thresholds and escalation upward for larger or judgment-based decisions.

Reporting to the Director, Commercial & Inventory Analytics, this role is where most recurring inventory work — planning, transactions, systems/process, and reporting — is executed and delegated within the team, freeing the Director to focus on inventory strategy, governance, and high-dollar or high-risk decisions.

Core Areas of Focus

Inventory Planning & Analytics (Recurring Ownership)

• Own recurring inventory analytics and month-end inventory reporting

• Administer the OSMI incentive process

• Lead routine inventory reviews and stock plan support across the network

• Make purchase recommendations and approve defined lower-risk decisions within delegated thresholds

• Use historical demand and, where appropriate, forward-looking opportunity signals from relevant commercial systems to inform purchase recommendations

Inventory Systems & Process

• Direct inventory systems and process work connecting P21, audits, warehouse reviews, RMAs, and root-cause investigation

• Oversee inventory valuations, inventory adjustment review, and RMA process issues

• Oversee OSMI disposition and execution, including eBay/surplus-buyer coordination

Inventory Accuracy Program

• Lead annual physical inventory support across all sites

• Own quarterly inventory reviews and audits

• Monitor site-level inventory accuracy performance throughout the year

• Coordinate inventory accuracy work across the team and sites

• Track results and corrective actions from reviews, audits, and physical inventories

• Escalate recurring or higher-risk inventory accuracy issues

BI & Dashboard Support

• Direct Power BI development, dashboard maintenance, and advanced analytics supporting inventory planning and analytics

• Ensure data pulls, validation, and reporting logic are accurate and timely

• Coordinate with the Commercial Data Analyst on shared BI/analytics resource needs, since this resource may also support commercial reporting priorities

Team Leadership & Development

• Provide day-to-day direction to team members across inventory planning, transactional support, systems/process, and BI/analytics

• Coach and develop team members toward increasing analytical judgment and business-facing responsibility, including a path toward senior inventory planning or inventory analytics roles

• Delegate recurring and lower-risk work across the team to free capacity for higher-value analysis

Acquisition & Cross-Functional Support

• Provide analytical support for acquisitions, including stock plan analysis, inventory-health input, and inventory valuations

• Support purchasing activity and account-specific stock plan considerations as assigned

Escalation & Governance

• Escalate high-dollar, high-risk, or strategically significant inventory requests and exceptions

• Operate within stock plan governance and review standards

Requirements

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of experience in inventory planning, supply chain analytics, or inventory/operations management, preferably in industrial/B2B distribution

• Experience administering stock plans, OSMI/slow-moving inventory processes, and inventory systems (P21 or similar ERP)

• Strong working knowledge of Power BI or comparable BI tools; SQL a plus

• Experience leading and developing a team spanning analytical, process, and BI/technical skill sets

• Comfort working across Supply Chain, Purchasing, Operations, and Finance

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Analytics, Finance, or related field required
