Job Title: Pharmacist Job Description
The Pharmacist safely verifies and dispenses prescription medications while providing high-quality patient counseling and collaborating with healthcare professionals to support appropriate medication therapy in an outpatient setting.
Responsibilities
- Verify and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently, ensuring safe and appropriate use.
- Evaluate prescriptions for correct dosage, potential drug interactions, allergies, contraindications, and other safety concerns.
- Counsel patients on proper medication use, dosing, side effects, interactions, storage, and adherence to prescribed therapy.
- Communicate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to clarify prescriptions and support optimal medication therapy.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records and patient medication profiles in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Support medication reconciliation and continuity of care when applicable, helping to ensure consistent and safe therapy across care settings.
- Assist with pharmaceutical inventory management, including ordering, receiving, storage, and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
- Provide oversight, direction, and guidance to pharmacy technicians and support staff as appropriate to ensure safe and efficient workflow.
- Follow all applicable federal and state pharmacy regulations along with organizational policies and procedures.
- Participate in pharmacy quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes and service delivery.
Essential Skills
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent pharmacy degree.
- Current and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of Tennessee (TN).
- Strong knowledge of medications, drug interactions, and medication safety principles.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex medication information clearly to patients and healthcare professionals.
- Proficient patient-counseling skills focused on adherence, safe use, and understanding of medications.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing prescriptions, dispensing medications, and maintaining records.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in outpatient, retail, ambulatory care, or hospital pharmacy is preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient adherence and medication management.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Interest in participating in quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives.
Work Environment
This role is based in an outpatient pharmacy setting that is fast-paced and highly patient-focused. The pharmacist works closely with other healthcare professionals and support staff to deliver safe, efficient medication services. The environment emphasizes accuracy, regulatory compliance, and strong patient interaction, with regular communication and counseling as core components of the daily workflow.

This is a Contract position based out of Memphis, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $59.00 - $65.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
