Senior Java Developer
About the role:
We’re looking for a senior Java developer who can build and support high-quality software while keeping the broader product and business context in view. You’ll work across application and database layers, collaborating with colleagues across time zones to understand problems, assess their impact, and deliver thoughtful, maintainable solutions.
This role calls for someone who is comfortable using AI-assisted development tools—such as GitHub Copilot—as a regular part of their workflow, while applying sound engineering judgment to review, test, and own the resulting code. You’ll also need the curiosity and patience to understand established systems before changing them.
What you’ll do:
- Develop, enhance, and support Java applications and REST-based services.
- Work with Oracle databases, debugging and reverse engineering PLSQL business logic.
- Modernize ETL and data integration pipelines.
- Work with existing and legacy systems, learning their behavior and constraints before making safe, well-reasoned changes.
- Collaborate with teammates across locations and time zones.
- Understand business needs and investigate problems across application, data, and operational boundaries before proposing solutions.
- Document decisions, changes, and operational considerations clearly.
- Help diagnose and resolve production issues.
Required qualifications:
- Strong professional experience developing applications in Java.
- Experience building REST services and working with service-oriented architectures.
- Comfortable with version control, automated build, test, and deployment practices.
- Ability to investigate complex problems, consider wider system and business impacts, and explain trade-offs clearly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with care for accurate, concise code and documentation.
- Experience with Angular and TypeScript.
- Experience with Python.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with the Spring framework.
- Experience developing Excel add-ins using.NET, C#, or Office JS
