About this role

At IBM Infrastructure & Technology, we design and operate the systems that keep the world running. From high-resiliency mainframes and hybrid cloud platforms to networking, automation, and site reliability. Our teams ensure the performance, security, and scalability that clients and industries depend on every day. Working in Infrastructure & Technology means tackling complex challenges with curiosity and collaboration. You'll work with diverse technologies and colleagues worldwide to deliver resilient, future-ready solutions that power innovation. We are looking for a skilled Software Developer to contribute to the design and development of compiler backend technologies.  The role requires strong C/C++ systems programming skills and hands-on understanding of compiler backend concepts such as instruction selection, register allocation, code scheduling, intermediate representations, control flow, and data flow analysis. Candidate will work on translating compiler intermediate representations into correct and efficient machine code, contributing to the design, implementation, testing, and debugging of backend components.  The role requires the ability to understand complex technical problems, develop well-structured solutions, and work independently while collaborating closely with other compiler and runtime developers.  Experience with PowerPC and AIX platform internals is highly valuable.   Compiler back-end construction — instruction selection, register allocation (linear scan or graph coloring), code scheduling  Intermediate representation (IR) design — SSA form, control flow graphs, data flow analysis C/C++ systems programming — the backend will be implemented in C/C+   PowerPC instruction set architecture — deep familiarity with PowerPC assembly, instruction encoding, and performance characteristics  AIX ABI / calling conventions — register usage, parameter passing, stack frame layout, TOC (Table of Contents) handling, function descriptors  AIX system programming — dynamic linking, object file format (XCOFF), debugger support India Infrastructure & Technology Hybrid Professional Bangalore, IN Bangalore (0063) IBM India Private Limited Architecture C++ Construction Design IBM Advanced Interactive Executive Computer Programming Scheduling Data Flow Source Strategies Analysis Instruction Encoding Parameter Theory Of Constraints Religious Vocation System Programming File Format
