About this role
Crawford is seeking a Liability Adjuster to join its Sydney team. This opportunity may particularly suit an early-career insurance lawyer looking to diversify from legal practice and apply their technical knowledge in a practical claims environment. You will work across personal injury and property liability matters, with injury claims typically representing up to 60% of the portfolio. Matters may range from slips, trips and falls through to serious injury and fatality claims. Depending on the brief, you may support early factual investigations, evidence gathering, liability assessment and ongoing claim management.
Why Join Crawford?
Join a collaborative claims environment and work alongside experienced adjusters and specialist professionals across Crawford's national liability team. You will build practical investigation and claims capability while developing specialist injury liability expertise.
- Exposure to diverse personal injury and property liability matters.
- Practical experience in interviewing, evidence gathering and report writing.
- A pathway to build specialist liability expertise within a global claims organisation.
What You Will Do
- Investigate personal injury and property liability claims under guidance from experienced colleagues.
- Interview claimants, insureds, employees and witnesses and assist with signed statements.
- Gather and assess supporting evidence, identify inconsistencies and document key findings.
- Prepare clear, detailed reports outlining findings and recommendations.
- Build knowledge of relevant legal principles, legislation, codes of practice and Australian Standards.
- Develop from desktop assessment into broader field-based investigation as your capability grows.
What You Will Bring
You are curious, organised and comfortable working with detailed information and sensitive injury matters. You communicate clearly, ask thoughtful questions and are motivated to build strong investigation and claims capability.
- Exceptional communication and attention to detail, with the ability to analyse competing evidence.
- Demonstrated experience or exposure to insurance, claims or insurance law.
- Exposure to liability, personal injury, workers compensation or insurance litigation is highly regarded.
- A law degree or relevant insurance qualification is desirable, although practical experience will also be considered.
- Confidence engaging professionally with clients, witnesses, claimants and other stakeholders.
- A willingness to learn from experienced adjusters and develop field investigation skills.
