About this role
Job Description & Summary
At PwC, our people in tax services focus on providing advice and guidance to clients on tax planning, compliance, and strategy. These individuals help businesses navigate complex tax regulations and optimise their tax positions.
Those in tax compliance at PwC will focus on validating clients' compliance with tax laws and regulations. You will review and analyse financial data, prepare and file tax returns, and assist businesses in meeting their tax obligations while minimising risks of non-compliance.
Our Tax Compliance and Accounting team is expanding in response to a growing portfolio of recurring and project-based engagements across technology, energy, retail and consumer, industrial, and professional-services clients. We are looking for a hands-on Consultant who can manage several workstreams in parallel, produce accurate compliance and accounting deliverables, and communicate confidently with clients and government authorities.
The role
The successful candidate will:
- Prepare tax computations and returns and perform first-level reviews of supporting data and workpapers, including CIT, VAT, withholding tax, reverse-charge VAT, property and land taxes, simplified tax and other applicable statutory filings.
- Perform bookkeeping and period-end accounting activities, including journal entries, general-ledger review, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, intercompany balances, bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare statutory and management reporting packs, tax-account reconciliations, supporting schedules, working papers and audit-ready documentation
- Support new-client set-up and transition, including process mapping, opening-balance review, chart-of-accounts mapping, reporting calendars, data templates and control checklists.
- Coordinate inputs and outputs with client finance teams, internal specialists and delivery-center colleagues; review delegated work and provide clear, timely feedback.
- Prepare correspondence and supporting documentation for tax-authority queries, notices, reconciliations and audits, and participate in meetings when required.
- Assist with external and internal audits, due diligence, tax reviews and ad hoc advisory assignments linked to compliance and accounting engagements.
- Use digital tools to improve standardization, data quality, controls, and efficiency while complying with PwC quality and risk management requirements.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Taxation or a related field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in tax compliance, accounting or outsourced finance; professional-services experience is strongly preferred.
- Practical knowledge of Azerbaijan tax legislation and statutory reporting requirements, with the ability to research and apply changes accurately.
- Solid grounding in bookkeeping, double-entry accounting, financial statements and IFRS; experience preparing or reviewing tax-to-account reconciliations is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with accounting or ERP systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV/Navision, SAP, Oracle, 1C or similar systems is an advantage.
- Fluency in Azerbaijani and English, both written and spoken. Russian and/or Turkish is an advantage.
- ACCA, CIMA, CPA, PMS or equivalent studies/qualification are an advantage.
- Strong ownership, attention to detail, professional scepticism and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines without compromising quality.
- Clear written and verbal communication, client-service mindset, teamwork and willingness to learn across different industries and engagement models.
Why join us
- Work on a varied portfolio that combines tax compliance, accounting, technology and client-facing problem solving.
- Build practical experience across multiple sectors and business models rather than focusing on a single in-house process.
- Learn through coaching, structured review and collaboration with tax, accounting, legal, payroll, technology and regional teams.
- Contribute to modernising compliance delivery through standardisation, data and digital tools.
