About the Rol e:
We are looking for an experienced Senior CCM / Smart Communications Developer to join Cigna's Smart Communications Community of Practice (CoP), supporting customer communication solutions across our International Health business.
This is more than a traditional development role. You will join a specialized technical community focused on building, evolving and improving Customer Communication Management solutions across an international environment.
While experience with Smart Communications / SmartCOMM is highly valued, we are equally interested in experienced CCM professionals with a strong background in platforms such as Quadient Inspire, OpenText Exstream or similar technologies.
If you have deep CCM expertise and are interested in expanding your skills into Smart Communications, this role offers the opportunity to bring your existing experience into a new technology environment while contributing to a growing Smart Communications practice.
We are looking for someone who combines strong hands-on development skills, technical ownership and a passion for solving complex problems, and who wants to have an impact beyond individual project delivery.
What You'll Do
Design & Development
- Design, develop and maintain Smart Communications solutions, including complex communication templates, reusable components and data-driven communications.
- Translate business and customer communication requirements into robust, scalable and maintainable technical solutions.
- Develop high-quality solutions following agreed development standards and best practices.
- Apply your previous CCM expertise to help improve how we design and deliver customer communications.
Technical Ownership
- Become a key technical contributor and CCM specialist within project teams.
- Provide technical guidance and contribute to solution design decisions.
- Diagnose and resolve complex CCM and Smart Communications technical issues.
- Challenge existing approaches and identify opportunities to simplify, standardize and improve solutions.
- Contribute your experience from SmartCOMM, Quadient, OpenText or other CCM technologies to help strengthen our overall engineering approach.
Smart Communications Community of Practice
- Actively contribute to Cigna's Smart Communications Community of Practice (CoP).
- Help define and evolve development standards, reusable patterns and best practices.
- Share your knowledge and experience with other developers.
- Learn from other experienced Smart Communications professionals while bringing ideas and practices from other CCM technologies.
- Support the continuous improvement and evolution of our Smart Communications capabilities.
International Collaboration
- Work closely with developers, architects, business analysts and other stakeholders across International Health.
- Participate in international initiatives and projects, collaborating with teams across different countries and functions.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Help teams successfully adopt and implement CCM solutions.
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in code reviews, testing and technical quality activities.
- Identify opportunities for greater reuse, automation and standardization.
- Contribute to improving development processes, maintainability and overall solution quality.
- Help evolve our CCM capabilities by bringing new ideas and challenging established approaches when appropriate.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience & Skills
- 5+ years of relevant software development experience, preferably working with Customer Communication Management (CCM) solutions.
- Strong hands-on experience with at least one enterprise CCM technology, such as: Smart Communications / SmartCOMM
- Quadient Inspire
- OpenText Exstream
- Or another comparable CCM platform
- Strong understanding of CCM concepts and development practices, including template development, reusable components, data integration and enterprise customer communications.
- Good knowledge of Java, SQL and XML.
- Experience with system integration and databases.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical challenges from analysis through resolution.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills in an international and collaborative environment.
- English level B2 or higher, with the ability to participate effectively in technical discussions with international teams.
Highly Valued
- Strong hands-on experience with Smart Communications / SmartCOMM.
- Experience working across multiple CCM technologies.
- Experience migrating, modernizing or evolving customer communications between different CCM technology environments.
- Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other developers.
- Experience contributing to technical standards, reusable components or development best practices.
- Experience with enterprise integrations and APIs.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Experience with document or content management solutions such as OnBase, Alfresco or Documentum.
Why Join Us?
Bring your CCM expertise and take it further
Your experience with SmartCOMM, Quadient, OpenText or another CCM platform matters to us. We value the knowledge and perspective that experienced CCM professionals can bring, regardless of the specific technology in which that expertise was developed.
Joining our Smart Communications Community of Practice gives you the opportunity to:
- Expand your expertise into Smart Communications while leveraging your existing CCM knowledge.
- Work on solutions with an international scope.
- Influence technical standards, design patterns and best practices.
- Solve meaningful and technically challenging communication problems.
- Collaborate with experienced technology professionals across different teams and countries.
- Build reusable capabilities that can benefit multiple projects and business areas.
- Share your expertise while continuing to develop your technical career.
- Be part of a specialized technical community, rather than being assigned only to a single project.
Who Would Be a Great Fit?
You could be a great fit if you are currently a Senior SmartCOMM, Quadient Inspire or OpenText Exstream Developer and are looking for your next technical challenge.
You don't necessarily need to be a Smart Communications expert from day one.
What matters most is that you bring strong CCM experience, solid development skills, technical curiosity and the ability to learn and adapt.
If you enjoy going beyond simply delivering requirements and want to help influence how solutions are designed, standardized and improved, we'd love to hear from you.
