Software Engineer BIOS / Penang, Malaysia

Tasks:

- Support technical definition of planned products.

- Contribute to hardware schematics creation. Provide input for and verify software compliant hardware design.

- Create schedules and provide effort and cost estimations for software development tasks and projects.

- Self-reliant handling of software development tasks and projects.

- Create (or provide), test, release and distribute the required standard or customized software component: BIOS (x86), Boardcontroller Firmware (BC FW) (x86), Board Support Packages (BSPs) for defined target operating systems (drivers,kernel patches ...) (x86, ARM), Bootloader (ARM) o Utilities (x86, ARM)

- Support hardware bring-up and debugging.

- Create and provide software for test purposes and failure analysis.

- Support congatec Test Engineering (TE) department during mass production tester development.

- Analyze and solve technical customer issues in cooperation with the Technical Solution Center (TSC) department.

- Create required software and software usage documentation.

- Perform training and know how transfer for congatec field application engineers and sales representatives.

- Contribute to the creation of technical specifications for new standards, products and features.

- Analyze and solve product and software component issues during life cycle.

- Perform required software maintenance and update tasks.

Profile:

- University degree in electrical engineering or similar

- Profound knowledge of x86 architecture

- Experience with hardware related, low level programming in C/C+ + (and assembler)

- Basic knowledge of the architecture of contemporary operating systems

- Experience with low level software programming (driver development) and UEFI BIOS

- Good level of spoken and written English
