About this role
We are seeking an experienced Accountant / Controller (CPA) to lead the accounting function for an established U.S. manufacturer in Statesville, NC . With more than 25 years in business, the company produces fiber-filled bedding products for the hospitality and healthcare industries from a 100,000 sq ft manufacturing facility.
We are specifically looking for a CPA with hands-on manufacturing accounting experience who has owned the month-end close, standard costing, and inventory accounting in a production environment, not just supported them. The right candidate understands how purchasing, production, and finished goods flow through the books and can turn that into accurate, timely margin reporting for leadership.
This is a full-time, on-site role. You will own the close, strengthen controls, and serve as the key financial partner to the owner and operations team.
Responsibilities
- Own the full month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close and deliver accurate financial statements on a fast, predictable schedule
- Manage standard costing, including cost roll-ups, variance analysis, and periodic cost updates
- Oversee inventory accounting across raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods, including reconciliations and physical count support
- Produce product, customer, and channel margin reporting that gives leadership clear visibility into profitability
- Design and maintain internal controls across purchasing, production, and finished-goods close
- Streamline close and reporting processes to shorten cycle time and improve accuracy
- Lead audit preparation and serve as the main point of contact for external auditors
- Partner with operations, purchasing, and sales on budgeting, forecasting, and cost-reduction initiatives
Requirements
- Active CPA license required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 7-10+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment; textile, bedding, or soft-goods manufacturing strongly preferred
- Proven ownership of the month-end close, with experience shortening close timelines
- Strong working knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, and margin analysis
- Experience building and maintaining internal controls across purchasing, production, and inventory
- Track record of leading audit support with clean results
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ERP/accounting systems, and advanced Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work on-site in Statesville, NC
Benefits
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Health insurance and benefits package
- Paid time off and company holidays
- Stable, established company with more than 25 years in business
- High-visibility role working directly with ownership and operations leadership
This opportunity is ideal for a manufacturing-focused CPA who enjoys owning the numbers end to end, building strong controls, and helping an established manufacturer make better decisions with timely, accurate reporting.
