Today, our global Cost Engineering network consists of more than 75 experts worldwide, covering a broad range of manufacturing technologies. As the industry undergoes a major technological transformation, we continue to grow and strengthen our expertise.

We are now expanding our Cost Engineering organization and are looking for a Senior Cost Engineer to join our Powertrain Technologies team. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of future mobility technologies while contributing to the development of world-class products in a global environment.

What you will do

You will play a key role in estimating product costs and tooling investments throughout the entire product lifecycle. You will work closely with engineering, purchasing, project management, and suppliers to ensure cost-efficient product designs and competitive sourcing decisions.

Your primary responsibilities include, but not be limited to:

- Calculating part costs and tooling investments for new and existing products

- Performing cost target setting and detailed cost breakdown analyses

- Supporting advanced engineering and concept selection activities with Design-to-Cost expertise

- Evaluating manufacturability and providing recommendations on efficient product designs and material choices

- Supporting sourcing activities and supplier negotiations together with purchasing teams

- Assessing cost impacts of engineering changes, including tooling and investment implications

- Conducting technical discussions with suppliers regarding production methods, manufacturing layouts, investments, and cost drivers

- Visiting suppliers and industry exhibitions to stay updated on current and future manufacturing technologies

Who are you?

You have a strong technical foundation and experience from manufacturing, product development, or cost engineering. You are capable of translating technical manufacturing processes into cost models and business decisions.

Ideally, you are currently working as a Cost Engineer within an OEM, supplier, or supply chain organization, but we also encourage applications from experienced Manufacturing Engineers, Industrial Engineers, or Product Development Engineers with strong manufacturing expertise.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly valued:

- Sheet metal forming and welding

- Casting technologies

- Forging

- Machining

- Complex product assemblies involving multiple manufacturing processes

We also welcome candidates with experience from emerging technologies such as:

- Battery manufacturing

- Hydrogen fuel cell technologies

- Other future-oriented manufacturing processes related to sustainable transportation

Requirements:

- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical education and experience

- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and industrial production methods

- Experience in cost calculations, investment evaluations, and technical analysis

- Ability to analyze complex technical and commercial challenges

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

- Fluent in English, both written and spoken

- International experience and exposure to European business environments are considered an advantage

You are comfortable working both independently and as part of a team and confident in supplier interactions and technical negotiations. You are interested in both technical and commercial aspects of business and curious about technology and manufacturing innovation.
