About the role and team

Working on Uber’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team means moving beyond traditional corporate relations to become a true advocate for change. You will act as the bridge between our market-leading technology and the policymakers, regulators, and third-party stakeholders who shape the future of urban mobility. In this role, you aren’t just managing a brand; you are navigating complex political landscapes to unlock the full potential of our services for earners, riders, and cities.

The environment is fast-paced, often heated, and highly ambiguous. You will lead proactive campaigns to challenge entrenched interests and outdated regulations, requiring a unique blend of intellectual firepower and resilient grit. If you are a self-starter who thrives when the stakes are high and the answers aren’t predefined, this is where you can do career-defining work that has a tangible impact on how the real world moves.

What the candidate will do:

- Develop and execute end-to-end engagement strategies for public policy issues, managing relationships with governments, academics, and third parties.
- Navigate shifting regulatory frameworks and internal complexities to build the positive case for change, ensuring Uber's model is understood and supported.
- Collaborate across operations, legal, tax, and communications to provide strategic advice that balances business goals with local political realities.
- Lead proactive advocacy campaigns involving diverse stakeholders to demonstrate better alternatives to the status quo, even in highly contested environments.
- Represent Uber externally in public speaking engagements and direct negotiations with national and local politicians.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and research to advise the business on corporate strategies that respond to evolving government expectations and global policy directions.

What the candidate will need:

- 5+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, or regulatory advocacy within a corporate or government setting.
- Professional proficiency in English and local language
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Policy, Government, Economics, Law, or a related field.
- Proven experience in project design, management, and execution within highly regulated industries.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in the technology sector or working with disruptive business models.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and build trust in complex, cross-functional environments.
- Strong analytical capabilities to identify policy trends and assess their business impact.
- Resilience and adaptability to remain calm and effective under significant public and political pressure.
