Job Title
Senior Compliance Analyst – Regulatory Compliance (PCF-39F), Baillie Gifford Europe
Department
Operations Dublin-International-Ireland
Overview of Department
Baillie Gifford Investment Management (Europe) Limited (BGE) is an Irish-authorised UCITS Management Company and Alternative Investment Fund Manager based in Dublin and part of the wider Baillie Gifford Group.
Reporting to BGE's Risk and Compliance Officer (RCO), you will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring and oversight of the Regulatory Compliance managerial function for BGE while working closely with colleagues across the wider Baillie Gifford Group Compliance function. This is a hands-on role combining the regulatory accountability of the PCF-39F Designated Person position with broader compliance analysis, regulatory change, assurance and improvement activity.
The successful candidate will be proposed as BGE's Designated Person with responsibility for Regulatory Compliance (PCF-39F), subject to the prior approval of the Central Bank of Ireland. Previous experience as a Designated Person for Regulatory Compliance, or in a directly comparable regulated compliance role, is strongly preferred. Candidates with substantial relevant experience who can demonstrate readiness to assume PCF-39F accountability may also be considered.
Purpose of Role
As Designated Person for Regulatory Compliance (PCF-39F), you will provide day-to-day monitoring and oversight of BGE's regulatory compliance framework, ensuring effective monitoring, appropriate challenge, timely escalation and clear reporting to the BGE Board. You will act as a key point of contact for the Central Bank of Ireland on regulatory compliance matters.
The role operates as part of Baillie Gifford's wider Group Compliance function. Alongside your BGE responsibilities, you will work collaboratively with Group Compliance colleagues on regulatory developments, assurance activity, analysis and defined projects, contributing specialist Irish and EU regulatory expertise while benefiting from the wider capability and infrastructure of the Group and maintaining clear accountability for BGE's regulatory compliance responsibilities.
Appointment to this role is subject to the Central Bank of Ireland's Fitness and Probity approval process and the candidate meeting BGE's internal due diligence requirements and will be based in Dublin.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee BGE's regulatory compliance framework, ensuring that arrangements remain effective, proportionate and responsive to changes in regulation and the business.
- Provide regulatory advice and subject matter expertise to BGE stakeholders, including senior management, on Irish and EU regulatory compliance matters.
- Oversee BGE's risk-based Compliance Monitoring Programme, ensuring its design, coverage and execution remain proportionate to the firm's regulatory obligations, risk profile and evolving business activities, and that material findings and remediation are appropriately reported and tracked.
- Monitor and assess relevant regulatory developments through the Compliance RADAR process, working with Group Compliance colleagues to determine impact, required actions and implementation priorities for BGE.
- Lead or contribute to regulatory change initiatives and defined compliance projects, using sound judgement to identify practical and proportionate solutions and support implementation.
- Act as a principal point of contact for the Central Bank of Ireland on regulatory compliance matters, including supervisory engagement, information requests, thematic reviews and inspections, coordinating accurate and timely responses and ensuring appropriate Board visibility.
- Lead breach, incident and issue management for regulatory compliance matters, including investigation and root-cause analysis, escalation of material issues, maintenance of appropriate records and coordination of any required regulatory notifications.
- Provide effective second-line oversight of compliance-relevant delegates and outsourced service providers, including due diligence, ongoing monitoring, service-review governance, escalation of issues and maintenance of appropriate evidence of oversight.
- Provide clear, decision-useful compliance reporting to the BGE Board, including key regulatory risks, breaches, emerging themes, regulatory developments, monitoring outcomes and open remediation actions, together with appropriate escalation and recommendations and direct escalation to the Board where warranted.
- Lead technical reviews of BGE compliance policies, framework documentation and process notes, ensuring they remain current, proportionate and aligned with regulatory requirements and Group standards.
- Oversee completion and effectiveness of relevant compliance training and attestations for BGE, escalating material gaps where required.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider Group Compliance function, contributing Irish and EU regulatory expertise, supporting assurance and improvement activity, and participating in broader Group compliance initiatives where appropriate.
- Support colleagues with technical regulatory queries, including compliance input to due diligence questionnaires and requests for proposal where required.
What Success Looks Like:
- Effective Regulatory Oversight: Established strong oversight of BGE’s regulatory compliance framework, ensuring key regulatory risks are identified, monitoring activities are delivered effectively, and issues are appropriately escalated and reported to the Board.
- Trusted Relationships and Regulatory Expertise: Built credible relationships with the BGE Board, senior stakeholders, Group Compliance colleagues and external service providers, providing clear, practical regulatory advice and constructive challenge.
- Continuous Improvement and Regulatory Compliance: Demonstrated a proactive approach to regulatory change, identifying opportunities to strengthen compliance processes, improve monitoring and reporting, and ensure BGE continues to meet its Irish and EU regulatory obligations.
Your Knowledge and Experience
- Significant relevant experience in regulatory compliance within asset management, investment management or fund management, preferably within an Irish UCITS Management Company or AIFM environment.

- Strong knowledge of the Irish and EU regulatory framework applicable to UCITS Management Companies and AIFMs, including UCITS, AIFMD, applicable MiFID requirements, the Central Bank's Fund Management Company Guidance and relevant outsourcing and delegation requirements.
- Practical experience of regulatory engagement, compliance monitoring, regulatory change, breach and issue management, and Board or governance reporting.
- Experience engaging effectively with Boards, senior management, regulators, delegates, depositaries, administrators, investment managers and other service providers.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret regulation pragmatically and proportionately, balancing investor protection, regulatory expectations and business objectives.
- Experience working effectively within a broader compliance function, collaborating across teams while maintaining appropriate independence and clear regulatory accountability.
