Your day at NTT DATA
NTT DATA is looking for a Senior Private Cloud Enterprise Architect to design, build and evolve a strategic client’s new Private Cloud capability as part of its wider Hybrid Multi-Cloud strategy.

The client and NTT DATA have agreed to begin the new Private Cloud journey using Red Hat OpenShift. The challenge is much broader than deploying an OpenShift platform.

The Private Cloud must provide a cloud-like consumption experience across a brownfield enterprise environment, combining container and virtualized workloads, automation, self-service, infrastructure services, security, resilience, observability and consumption-based management.

The initial European platform will be implemented within the client’s existing Eindhoven data-center environment and must integrate with existing infrastructure, including computing, storage, backup, networking and enterprise-management capabilities.

You will work closely with the client’s Cloud and Enterprise Architects and with NTT DATA’s platform, engineering, network, security, transformation and operations teams.

The client retains strategic architecture, policy, sovereignty, and key approval authority. Private Cloud strategic architecture, standards, service design and engineering are co-created with the client. Your role is therefore to bring the technical depth and architectural leadership needed to turn that direction into a coherent, implementable and supportable Private Cloud platform.

This is a client-facing role. You will work directly with client stakeholders in day-to-day architecture and delivery discussions and represent NTT DATA at senior technical level.

This role requires availability to work on-site in Eindhoven three days per week.

What you will do

• Act as NTT DATA’s senior strategic and technical advisor for Private Cloud.

• Build a trusted working relationship with the client’s Cloud, Enterprise Architecture, Security and platform teams.

• Co-create Private Cloud architecture and service-design decisions within the client’s retained architecture and governance framework.

• Provide architectural leadership for the OpenShift-based Private Cloud platform and its evolution.

• Ensure the platform supports both modern containerized services and the practical integration and migration needs of the client’s existing virtualized estate.

• Translate requirements into scalable platform architectures and implementable high-level and low-level designs.

• Guide the integration of compute, virtualization, container platforms, storage, backup, networking and platform services into one coherent Private Cloud.

• Ensure the design integrates effectively with the existing NetApp storage and Rubrik backup capabilities and with the new dedicated Private Cloud network.

• Provide architectural leadership around OpenShift, Kubernetes, virtualization, software-defined infrastructure and platform engineering.

• Guide Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, orchestration and automation patterns.

• Help establish reusable platform standards, blueprints, service patterns and architecture decision records.

• Support API-driven service consumption and integration with the Hybrid Multi-Cloud Internal Developer Portal and service catalogue.

• Guide integration with the client’s ServiceNow, CMDB/CSDM, IAM/PAM, security, observability and operational-management platforms.

• Support consumption-based service design, metering, showback and FinOps capabilities for the Private Cloud.

• Ensure security, sovereignty, isolation, resilience, recoverability and observability are embedded in platform design rather than added afterwards.

• Work closely with security architects on Zero Trust, access integration, policy as code, encryption and key management, and confidential-compute requirements where applicable.

• Guide platform lifecycle, capacity, scalability, performance and resource-optimization decisions.

• Review and challenge Private Cloud engineering designs and major technical changes.

• Support migration and workload-onboarding patterns between the existing Data Centre estate, Private Cloud and Public Cloud.

• Support transition-to-run and operational-readiness activities, ensuring designs are supportable, observable, recoverable and appropriately documented.

• Identify opportunities for simplification, standardization, automation and reduction of technical debt.

• Help maintain a technology roadmap that supports the client’s longer-term Hybrid Multi-Cloud direction while keeping the immediate Phase 0/1 delivery practical and achievable.

• Security, IAM/PAM, and policy integration.

• Backup, disaster recovery, and cyber resilience.

• Hybrid Cloud integration.

We are not expecting you to configure every component yourself.

We are expecting you to understand the full platform deeply enough to identify design consequences, challenge engineering decisions, manage dependencies, and ensure the individual components operate as one Private Cloud service.

What we are looking for

Ideally, you bring:

• Significant experience as a Private Cloud Architect, Platform Architect, Enterprise Architect or Principal Architect.

• Strong architecture experience with Red Hat OpenShift in large enterprise environments.

• Strong Kubernetes and container-platform architecture experience.

• Good understanding of enterprise virtualization and VMware environments, particularly in brownfield transformation and migration scenarios.

• Experience designing integrated Private Cloud platforms covering compute, storage, backup and network services.

• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation and GitOps.

• Understanding of modern platform-engineering and Internal Developer Platform concepts.

• Experience designing API-driven service catalogues and automated provisioning models.

• Strong knowledge of availability, resilience, backup, disaster recovery, and cyber-recovery design.

• Strong understanding of security architecture integration, identity, segmentation and policy enforcement.

• Understanding of FinOps, consumption metering, showback and capacity optimization for private infrastructure.

• Experience integrating cloud platforms with enterprise ITSM, CMDB, observability and operational processes.

• Experience with large-scale, business-critical and security-sensitive enterprise environments.

• Strong understanding of Hybrid Cloud architecture.

• Experience operating within formal architecture-governance and co-create models.

• Excellent customer-facing and stakeholder-management capabilities.

• The confidence to challenge decisions constructively and explain complex architecture choices clearly.
