About this role

Fortell is harnessing AI and custom silicon to build the world’s best hearing aids. Our mission is to empower people to hear better everywhere — even in the most challenging environments — so they can connect, thrive, and enjoy life to the fullest. We’re driven by cutting-edge technology, user-centric design, and a passion for improving lives. We are a NY-based startup backed by Thrive Capital, Founders Fund, Valor Equity Partners, Lux Capital and Optum Ventures, among others.

We are looking for a highly motivated Business Operations Associate, who will be a core member of the team that keeps our fast-growing startup running smoothly behind the scenes. You will wear many hats and own a variety of core operational responsibilities, focused on finance ops and running our NYC office, flexing into people and product when needed. You’ll design new systems to help us scale and learn the business from the inside out.

- Finance operations. Process and code invoices and purchase orders, handle approvals and resolve discrepancies. Manage company cards and expenses in Brex. Maintain vendor records. Support the monthly close alongside our outside accounting firm.
- Office management. Run day-to-day operations in our NYC office: supplies, deliveries, guest arrivals, desk and equipment readiness, and relationships with building management and vendors. You’ll also help plan and carry out our move into our first dedicated office space.
- People operations support. Help new teammates have a great first day. Help keep training and personnel records up to date and lend a hand with recruiting logistics and team events.
- Process improvement. Notice where things break or slow down, then build the checklist, tracker, or workflow that fixes it. Leave every process better documented than you found it.

What you’ll bring

- 2+ years of work experience, ideally in a fast-paced environment. Startup, finance, accounting, or office management experience is a plus but not required.
- You’re highly organized and reliable. People can count on you to follow through, and you make order out of chaos.
- You’re comfortable with numbers and spreadsheets. You can reconcile a list, spot what doesn’t add up, and dig in until it does.
- You can be trusted with discretion. You’ll handle sensitive financial and employee information.
- You take ownership and act on things without being asked. You don’t wait to be told what to do; you see what needs doing and do it.
- You’re curious and resourceful. When you hit something new, you figure it out, ask good questions, and learn fast.
