About this role
The Opportunity
We're looking for an exceptional sales leader who can turn an extraordinary product into extraordinary commercial success.
As VP, Sales, you'll work directly alongside a Vessel Division Head to transform developer interest into signed building contracts.
You'll be the person who takes an opportunity from "This is interesting" to "Where do I sign?"
This isn't conventional real estate sales. You won't be selling another construction method or competing on the margins of a commodity product. You'll be introducing developers to an entirely new way of thinking about apartment buildings—and demonstrating why Calypso can fundamentally change the economics of their business.
You'll combine commercial instincts, analytical rigor, technical curiosity, and an obsession with the customer to make that happen.
##
What You'll Do
- Turn opportunities into signed contracts. Own the sales process from qualified opportunity through proposal, negotiation, and contract execution.
- Make the numbers work. Collaborate with our design and engineering teams to develop building configurations, site test fits, unit mixes, and yield studies that maximize the economic potential of every opportunity.
- Become the developer's most trusted partner. Understand how developers think, how they underwrite projects, and what they need to make investment decisions. Help them see not just what Calypso is, but what it makes possible.
- Build relationships that last. Cultivate deep customer relationships, turning successful initial projects into repeat business and long-term partnerships.
- Own your pipeline. Maintain exceptional discipline around Salesforce, opportunity management, forecasting, and follow-through. Know exactly where every deal stands and what it will take to move forward.
- Collaborate across the organization. Work closely with design, engineering, finance, and fulfillment to ensure every proposal is compelling, executable, and commercially sound.
- Stay accountable through the finish line. Partner with VP Fulfillment as signed projects move through entitlement and permitting. Fulfillment owns project execution, but you'll remain engaged until permits are secured and the sale is officially closed.
Who You Are
We're less interested in how many years you've spent selling real estate than in how you think, what you've accomplished, and what you're capable of doing next.
- You're a closer. You love the challenge of turning a complicated opportunity into a successful transaction. You're persuasive, persistent, and exceptionally good at getting things done.
- You understand the economics. You can think like a real estate developer, understand a pro forma, and have intelligent conversations about yield, rents, costs, returns, and project feasibility.
- You're intellectually curious. You love learning how things work. You're equally comfortable discussing building design, financial underwriting, and commercial strategy.
- You're a natural relationship builder. You earn trust through intelligence, responsiveness, preparation, and an authentic commitment to helping customers succeed.
- You're comfortable with ambiguity. You don't need an established playbook. You enjoy helping invent one.
- You're technologically fluent. You embrace modern tools, including AI, and constantly look for ways to work smarter, move faster, and accomplish more.
- You're relentlessly accountable. You take ownership of outcomes, not just activities. You follow through, pay attention to details, and don't confuse being busy with producing results.
- You have the curiosity, imagination, intellect, and tenacity to help build something that has never existed before.
Experience in real estate development, multifamily housing, or complex B2B sales is valuable. But exceptional ability, commercial judgment, and a demonstrated record of achievement matter more to us than a conventional résumé.
What Success Looks Like
Success is measured by buildings sold—not meetings held, presentations delivered, or proposals outstanding.
You'll be accountable for building a strong pipeline, converting opportunities into signed contracts, developing repeat customers, and helping your division achieve its sales objectives.
You'll receive a competitive base salary and performance-based bonus tied to buildings sold, including repeat business, with sales credited upon achievement of the required permits.
We believe exceptional people deserve exceptional opportunities—and the chance to share in the value they help create.
We offer a competitive base salary of $175,000–$200,000, together with a performance-based bonus program offering total on-target annual cash compensation of $300,000–$350,000, with uncapped upside for extraordinary results.
You'll also have the opportunity to participate in Vessel's employee stock option program, giving you a stake in the company you're helping build.
Our comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement benefits, and paid time off.
At Vessel, we want you to do the most meaningful work of your career—and be rewarded for the impact you make.
