About this role

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

Our Talent team supports our teams around the globe so they can do the best work of their lives. Within Talent Management, we are looking for a leader to own our onboarding strategy. Our culture drives how we work, and we need someone who cares as deeply about our culture as they do about building great onboarding experiences.

Onboarding is how great talent becomes excellent at Netflix. At most organizations, it’s logistics: badge, laptop, benefits, go. Here, it’s where new hires learn how great work gets done: the business, the culture, the people, and the job. We aim for a Dream Team of people who are great at what they do and even better at working together, and onboarding is where that starts.

Who you are

You’re a generalist at heart with a strong working knowledge of product ownership and strategy, experience design, project/program management, and event management. You will coach and support your team in each specialty and drive towards outcomes for the onboarding portfolio.

What this role is like

You’ll join Talent Management on a team that runs some of the most visible programs at Netflix, from Onboarding to Leader Development and Organizational Effectiveness, and everything in between. You’ll lead a high-performing, multidisciplinary team, set a clear vision for onboarding, and inspire your team and partners to move towards it. You’ll trust your team to make thoughtful decisions and create an environment where people are challenged and supported to do their best work.

You’ll be accountable for the onboarding strategy, beginning with global leader and executive onboarding, and build it so that the work extends to other regions. You’ll also lead the delivery of our largest live learning event in the US and Canada [UCAN] and help decide how and when to scale live learning globally. Managers are the biggest driver of onboarding quality, so you’ll shape what comes next with them, not for them.

Building something new at this scale is bold, ambitious, and sometimes uncomfortable. You won’t wait to be told what to build. You’ll make the case, farm for dissent before you decide, commit once you do, and own the result. We hire unusually responsible people and give them context, not control, and we expect you to do the same with your team.

This role is US-based, from our offices in Los Gatos, CA, or Los Angeles, CA. You’ll report to the Director, Talent Management, UCAN.

What you’ll own

You’ll own the onboarding product and be accountable for its outcome: accelerating new hire effectiveness. Onboarding is good today, and we believe it can be even better tomorrow. You’ll start with the problem, stay accountable after launch, and use data and customer signals to decide what to improve, scale, or retire. You’ll balance global consistency with local needs, and bring in Talent Analytics, Talent Tech & Operations, Talent Acquisition, Inclusion, Compensation, global HRBPs, and Talent Leadership early, as One Talent Team.

Within Onboarding, you and your team will own and develop:

- Exec Onboarding [VP, Sr Director]: tailored touchpoints for incoming VPs, plus VP-specific enablement for hiring managers, HRBPs, and onboarding buddies
- Leader Onboarding [Managers, Directors]: new leaders, including live learning and leader-specific enablement for hiring managers, HRBPs, and buddies
- Employee Onboarding: new individual contributors, including live learning for new hires and enablement for hiring managers, HRBPs, and onboarding buddies
- Onboarding Digital Hub: the digital home for all new hires, with self-serve content on the business, our culture, and leadership
- Early Career Hires: onboarding for new grads and early career hires

What you’ll do:

- Lead and develop a small, multidisciplinary team of experienced designers and project managers with clear expectations, candid feedback, and room to grow.
- Focus your team on high-impact priorities, matching capabilities to the biggest opportunities, and communicating trade-offs and non-goals explicitly.
- Lead your team to manage the full product lifecycle, from problem discovery and launch to continuous iteration or retirement.
- Guide the experience design direction, translating business strategy and employee insights into a cohesive onboarding experience.
- Define target outcomes up front and track metrics for effectiveness, efficiency, engagement, and experience, ensuring equity across regions and teams.
- Establish core standards for all new hires [onboarding plans, buddies, clear goals] while creating memorable touchpoints that keep processes lightweight and flexible
- Set clear expectations and tools for hiring managers, and clarify who does what across recruiters, HRBPs, buddies, and leaders.
- Build for the future by anticipating how our business and workforce are evolving, encouraging experimentation, challenging conventional approaches, and exploring new technologies and modalities.
- Partner with global talent management teams to drive the greatest impact

Requirements

- 10+ years  leading people, including hiring, coaching, and developing high-performing multidisciplinary teams, with candid feedback and a culture of trust and accountability
- 10+ years in HR, Talent Management, or Org Development, including 5+ years building and scaling onboarding or employee experience programs
- Influence and facilitation skills across teams and leadership levels, including senior stakeholders without authority, even when the path is unclear.
- Strategic thinking and business acumen to connect business priorities and employee needs, define a future state, and turn complex problems into a roadmap
- Experience owning a product or program against an outcome over time, and leading complex initiatives across multi-disciplinary stakeholders
- Human-centered design leadership, from problem framing through implementation and iteration, creating scalable experiences with measurable results
- Generalist range across product ownership, experience design, project/program management, and event management, with enough depth to coach specialists in each
- First principles and systems thinking across the talent management system, with a willingness to challenge assumptions and try new approaches and technologies
- Analytical rigor and sound judgment; when to rely on data versus intuition.
- Resilience, self-awareness, and high standards, with comfort building new programs from scratch in fast-paced environments
- Deep passion for Netflix culture
- Willingness to travel up to 50%, domestically and internationally

Preferred experience

- 12+ years in the field, including 7+ years building onboarding at a mid to large global organization
- Track record of leading teams to scale programs across global regions while maintaining quality
- Experience in leading a team through change, such as a new strategy, a reorg, or a shift in the way we get things done
- Experience designing executive transitions and helping leaders integrate culture through practice
- Experience leading cross-functional work with business leaders, talent partners, tech, and analytics using agile and design thinking frameworks
- Experience leading in a product-centric model, including setting outcome measures and building early feedback loops
- Interest in guiding your team and partners to explore how AI and new tech can improve workplace learning and productivity
