The Construction Manager II serves as a highly visible onsite leader who makes practical field decisions, resolves contractor interface issues, identifies schedule risks, and clearly communicates project status to both field teams and stakeholders. Responsibilities

- Plan, organize, and coordinate daily onsite construction activities across all active work areas from mobilization through construction completion and startup readiness.
- Provide field input into the integrated construction schedule, short-interval plans, budget forecasts, and recovery plans to keep the project on track.
- Conduct routine site inspections and construction walkdowns to verify quality, progress, safety, and conformance with issued plans and specifications.
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, utility, millwright, and equipment-installation activities to ensure efficient sequencing and minimal conflicts.
- Oversee general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and specialty trades, maintaining clear expectations and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor critical paths, schedule dependencies, contractor productivity, access constraints, material availability, and trade interfaces to anticipate and address issues proactively.
- Identify schedule variances and collaborate with contractors and project leadership to define and implement corrective or recovery actions.
- Review field conditions, resolve routine construction conflicts, and escalate matters that require engineering, commercial, or executive decisions.
- Monitor contractor compliance with site safety requirements and support corrective actions when unsafe conditions or behaviors are identified.
- Provide quality oversight to help ensure all work complies with project specifications, drawings, and relevant industry standards.
- Facilitate coordination meetings involving the owners representatives, contractors, engineering, operations, and equipment vendors to align priorities and resolve issues.
- Track and report construction progress, open risks, action items, key decisions, change impacts, and potential budget effects to project leadership and stakeholders.
- Support installation-readiness and turnover planning for manufacturing equipment and infrastructure, ensuring smooth transition to startup and operations.
- Maintain clear, consistent communication with field personnel, project leadership, and management regarding status, risks, and required decisions.
- Provide practical leadership and guidance to supervisors and project-team members while preserving clear accountability for contractor performance.
- Begin each day with contractor coordination, safety discussions, sequencing review, and constraint analysis to set expectations and align activities.
- Walk active work areas daily to compare actual progress with planned work and to identify any quality or safety concerns requiring attention.
- Coordinate handoffs and site access among civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, utility, and millwright crews to minimize downtime and interference.
- Review near-term milestones, critical activities, material status, engineering dependencies, and vendor requirements to ensure readiness for upcoming work.
- Document site observations, responsible parties, due dates, and escalation needs, and lead or participate in coordination meetings among owner, contractor, and engineering teams.
- Collaborate with the scheduling team and contractors to develop mitigation plans when progress falls behind or risks to the schedule are identified.
- Prepare concise updates that summarize completed work, next steps, key risks, schedule status, and decisions required from leadership.
