Job Summary
We are looking for a Lead Piping Engineer (Pipe Stress) to lead stress engineering activities across projects. The ideal candidate will take technical ownership of complex piping systems, provide guidance to Junior Engineers, interface with client technical leads, and ensure seamless delivery of stress engineering scope.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Lead Pipe Stress Analysis for projects/programs independently, managing task distribution and execution according to priority and capacity.
- Perform and verify advanced static and dynamic stress modeling for complex, high-pressure/high-temperature piping connected to critical equipment (Reactors, Columns, Flare Headers, Reciprocating Compressors, etc.).
- Review and approve stress models and calculation reports involving dynamic loads (Slug flow, PSV reaction forces, Liquid Hammer, Surge, and Seismic).
- Perform specialized local stress evaluations (FEA, NozzlePRO, WRC 107/297) for vessel and equipment nozzles.
- Evaluate total support structural loads, review support concepts, and validate spring hanger/strut selection.
- Lead root cause analysis for piping stress, dynamic vibration, and fatigue/safety issues.
- Client & Discipline Interface: Act as the primary technical point of contact with client technical leads (Process, Materials, Rotating Equipment) and participate in formal design reviews and progress meetings.
- Mentor and guide junior/senior engineers, ensuring high quality and compliance with design codes and project specs.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of codes (ASME B31.3, B31.1, ASME Sec VIII) and equipment vendor limits (API 610, 617, 618, 650, 661, 560, etc.).
We are known for our extraordinary people who make the impossible possible every day. Questians are driven by hunger, humility, and aspiration. We believe that our company culture is the key to our ability to make a true difference in every industry we reach. Work Experience
- Education: bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university (minimum 60% or 6.0 CGPA).
- Experience: 7 to 10 years of hands-on experience in pipe stress engineering in Oil & Gas, Refining, Petrochemical, or LNG projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in CAESAR II, AutoPIPE, NozzlePRO, or FEA tools.
- Strong leadership, planning, coordination, and technical presentation skills.
- Basic understanding of Project Management principles and live plant operations/operating environments.
- Excellent communication skills; willingness to travel to domestic and international project sites.
