Purpose:

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Process Engineer. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Toronto, Ontario.

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will provide technical process engineering leadership throughout the full project lifecycle, from concept development and design through execution, commissioning, and potential operational support. Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams, you will develop safe, practical, and technically robust solutions that meet project objectives, regulatory requirements, applicable codes and standards, and client expectations.

Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will apply advanced process engineering knowledge to solve complex technical challenges, make sound engineering decisions, and ensure the delivery of high-quality engineering outcomes. You will also support the development of less experienced engineers through technical guidance, mentoring, and review, while fostering strong collaboration and technical excellence across the project team.

Your contributions will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality, schedule, and performance requirements.

Responsibilities:

- Develop, review and deliver process engineering studies, calculations, specifications, datasheets, reports and other technical documentation.
- Develop and review process design deliverables such as process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), heat and material balances, process descriptions and equipment design requirements.
- Perform process engineering calculations and analyses to support equipment sizing, hydraulic requirements, operating conditions and overall process design.
- Evaluate technical problems, develop and compare alternative solutions, and provide clear engineering recommendations.
- Provide process engineering input to project planning, scope definition, estimates, schedules and execution strategies.
- Coordinate process engineering activities with mechanical, piping, instrumentation and controls, electrical, civil/structural and other disciplines to support integrated project delivery.
- Support safety and technical reviews, including process hazard and design reviews, and ensure resulting engineering actions are appropriately incorporated into the design.
- Prepare and review technical specifications, equipment datasheets, requisitions and other documentation to support procurement activities.
- Support technical bid evaluations, vendor document reviews and resolution of vendor-related technical questions.
- Review engineering work for technical quality, completeness and alignment with project requirements, applicable standards and established engineering practices.
- Identify and resolve technical issues that arise during engineering, construction, commissioning and start-up.
- Support constructability, operability and maintainability reviews and incorporate relevant requirements into process engineering deliverables.
- Manage process engineering priorities and deliverables in alignment with project scope, schedule and budget requirements.
- Identify changes or technical issues that could affect project execution and work with project and discipline leadership to develop appropriate solutions.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching and mentorship to less experienced engineers and designers.
- Build effective working relationships with customers, vendors, contractors and internal project stakeholders.
- Contribute to proposals and estimates through development of technical scope, execution approaches and level-of-effort estimates.
- Support safe and sustainable engineering outcomes throughout the project and asset lifecycle.

What you will bring:
Technical and Industry Experience:

- Typically 8+ years of relevant process engineering experience, with progressively increasing technical responsibility.
- Strong process engineering fundamentals and the ability to independently develop, analyze and review engineering solutions.
- Demonstrated experience developing and reviewing process engineering calculations and technical deliverables.
- Experience interpreting and applying applicable engineering codes, standards, regulatory requirements and customer specifications.
- Ability to analyze complex technical problems, assess alternatives and communicate practical engineering recommendations.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering and project teams and coordinating technical interfaces between disciplines.
- Ability to organize and prioritize engineering work while working within project scope, schedule and quality requirements.
- Experience supporting procurement, vendor technical review, construction and/or commissioning activities.
- Strong technical review and checking skills with an attention to engineering quality and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to engineering, project and customer stakeholders.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with customers, vendors, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to developing engineers and designers.
- A practical, solution-oriented approach with accountability for the quality of your work and the ability to work independently when solving complex engineering challenges.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain registration, where required for the work. The global profile requires active professional licensure with the applicable engineering governing body where required by law.
