About this role

About Throne

Throne is a fast growing Series C startup transforming local communities by delivering clean, safe, accessible restrooms to cities, transit agencies, and public spaces. With flagship customers in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, Ann Arbor, and Washington DC, and recent launches in New York City, Atlanta, and Seattle, we're rapidly scaling into new markets in 2027 and beyond.

We recognize an unspoken problem: that better bathroom accommodations are sorely needed in most cities. Public and retail bathrooms are neither positioned to meet demand, nor incentivized to provide the quality experience people deserve.

Our mission is to provide peace of mind to the millions of people who set out on an adventure on any given day. That adventure may be big or small. It may involve taking your toddler to the park, driving a stranger to the airport, running a half marathon, or exploring a new city for the first time.

About the Job

This is a newly created role and the senior leader for the LA market. You will report to the VP of Operations and lead the LA field and operations team, including an Operations Manager who runs cleaning and a Technical Operations Manager. The first priority is operational excellence: keeping every unit clean, stocked, and running across a large, dispersed footprint.

The total cash compensation for this position is $150,000 - $220,000, which includes base and bonus. Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's applicable experience, skills, and geographic location. This role is also eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including equity.

Primary Responsibilities:

P&L & Performance

- Own the LA P&L: revenue, costs, and margin.
- Manage KPIs: cleanliness and odor scores, uptime, response times, labor costs, and customer satisfaction.
- Know the levers that move each metric, and make clear tradeoffs between cost, quality, and staffing.
- Build the long-term plan for growth, maintenance, and asset replacement.
- Partner with product and engineering to improve units and internal tools.

Operations & Field Management

- Lead daily field operations: cleaning, restocking, pumping, and technical maintenance.
- Drive clean and odor score recovery.
- Adapt company playbooks into LA SOPs.
- Recruit, develop, and retain a large frontline team, and hold a dispersed team accountable.
- Hire a Technical Operations Manager and build a performance review program.
- Own incident escalation (outages, vandalism, safety events), including after hours.
- Ensure compliance with contract, safety, and fleet requirements.

Customer & Stakeholder Relations

- Be accountable for the LA Metro relationship. Day-to-day contact may sit with your Operations Manager; you lead escalations and key conversations. The Revenue team owns the commercial relationship.
- Report performance to the customer through data and regular check-ins.
- Represent the company with local agencies and community partners, including occasional permitting and site placement.
- Raise risks and opportunities to internal stakeholders early.

Is This You?

- Field operations leader: you’ve run maintenance and servicing of public-facing field assets in transit, fleet, car share, micro-mobility, facilities, or municipal services.
- Leader of large teams: you’ve managed frontline, hourly teams of 75 to 250, including people you don’t see every day.
- Data fluent: you can cut data, pick the right views, and know what data a decision needs. SQL is a plus.
- Financially fluent: you’ve owned a P&L and made cost and quality tradeoffs under pressure.
- Willing to do hard things: you make the difficult call and are there when the market needs you.
- Clear communicator: you keep people informed and follow up reliably.
- Builder: you move fast in ambiguity.
- Mission-aligned: you care about public restroom access.

Qualifications

- 7+ years in operations or field services, including 5+ years leading frontline teams of 75 to 250.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Plus: workforce scheduling, fleet, maintenance, or ticketing systems; Excel modeling; working with product teams on internal tools.
- Travel: one or two trips to other markets during onboarding, then mostly within the LA metro area.

Benefits:

- Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with medical options that are 100% employer-paid
- Equity for all US-based positions, so you share in Throne’s growth
- Daily access to earned wages
- 401(k) plan
- Paid time off that grows with tenure, in addition to paid sick time and paid parental leave
- Life insurance, AD&D coverage, and short and long-term disability insurance
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Benefits offered to full-time and part-time employees may vary by State.
