About this role
Company Description
TechSilo is a small technology and engineering services firm in Fredericksburg, Virginia. We support federal defense customers, including a multi-year Navy engineering program, and we are growing into higher education and public-sector analytics. The team is small and senior, and our CEO is the Program Director on this work, so your review goes to decision makers directly.
Job Description
Be the last expert to look at a deliverable before it reaches the client. We promise our client that a senior reviewer who did not produce the work will approve every final deliverable. That reviewer needs to be someone who has seen enough analyses to know when a number looks too clean, a comparison is not fair, or a conclusion goes further than the data. You work only when there is something to review, and your sign-off carries real weight.
What you'll do
- Review and approve final deliverables for analytical soundness, traceability to source data, material limitations, conformance with scope, and acceptance criteria.
- Check that findings are supported, that data gaps and uncertainty are stated, and that AI-assisted results were validated by a person.
- Document required corrections, confirm they were made, and record your approval.
- Advise Task Leads on analytical approach when asked, before work reaches final review.
- Stay independent: you never review work you helped produce.
Required qualifications
- Advanced degree (master's or doctorate) in data science, statistics, economics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 15 years of professional experience in analytics, data science, or applied research, including leading complex analytical engagements.
- A record of reviewing other people's quantitative work and giving direct, specific feedback.
- Experience with large datasets drawn from many sources with inconsistent definitions.
- Clear, concise writing, since your review notes become part of the record.
- Based in the US and able to work remotely, part-time, in TechSilo's managed environment.
How the role works
Work is on call and tied to deliverable dates. Expect a few hours per deliverable and typically under 10 hours a month, with more during busy periods. There is no guaranteed minimum, and the role starts only if the contract is awarded. We also name a backup reviewer so deliveries are never held up, and you may be asked to cover for them. Finalists will be asked to sign a commitment letter so we can name them in our proposal, and their resume may be shared with the client.
