Key focus areas include safe work execution, equipment uptime and reliability, preventive maintenance recovery, SAP work-order discipline, technician and contractor coordination, troubleshooting, repair validation, and continuous improvement. The role also conducts routine preventive maintenance audits, leads root cause analysis for recurring and high-impact failures, and optimizes preventive maintenance plans using equipment condition, failure history, OEM recommendations, and audit findings.

In this role you will:

- Provide daily technical direction and work coordination for maintenance technicians and outside service providers supporting Machine Shop and facility equipment.

- Set daily work priorities, allocate available labor, conduct pass-downs, and follow up to verify work completion and quality.

- Coordinate corrective, preventive, predictive, and emergency maintenance activities based on safety, production impact, and equipment criticality.

- Serve as the primary maintenance contact for Machine Shop production leadership regarding equipment status, repair priorities, downtime escalation, and return-to-service communication.

- Lead troubleshooting of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, controls, and machining-equipment failures with support from Engineering, Production, vendors, and the maintenance team.

- Validate repairs with Production before equipment is returned to service and confirm that required safeguards and operating conditions are restored.

- Restore and sustain preventive maintenance execution for Machine Shop assets, including schedule compliance, completion review, and backlog follow-up.

- Identify opportunities to improve or create preventive maintenance procedures based on repeat failures, equipment condition, OEM recommendations, and maintenance history.

- Walk production and maintenance areas routinely to identify abnormal equipment conditions, safety concerns, housekeeping needs, and developing reliability risks.

- Ensure SAP work orders contain clear problem descriptions, accurate labor and material usage, repair details, failure information, and timely closeout.

- Maintain visibility of open work, aging backlog, schedule adherence, equipment downtime, repeat failures, and overdue preventive maintenance.

- Escalate recurring or high-impact failures and support root cause analysis, corrective-action development, and verification of completed actions.

- Coordinate contractor access, downtime windows, permits, site requirements, work scope, field execution, and acceptance of completed work.

- Confirm contractor work is completed safely, within the approved scope, and at the expected quality before final acceptance.

- Identify critical spare-parts needs and support proper stocking levels for equipment with high downtime or long-lead replacement risk.

- Identify opportunities to transfer contractor knowledge and repair capability to the internal maintenance team.

- Support equipment criticality reviews, PM optimization, Total Productive Maintenance activities, and maintenance KPI follow-through.

- Train and coach technicians and operators on equipment care, troubleshooting methods, safe work practices, inspection routines, and documentation expectations.

- Reinforce safe work permits, non-standard work controls, lockout/tagout requirements, required PPE, housekeeping, and approved safety procedures.

- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment, retrofits, equipment relocations, and facility capital projects.

- Partner with Maintenance Planning, Production, Engineering, EHS, and Procurement to coordinate parts, resources, work windows, and technical support.

- Identify opportunities to reduce avoidable downtime, overtime recovery, emergency purchases, repeat repairs, and contractor dependence.

- Work independently or as part of a cross-functional team and adjust priorities as production and business needs change.

- Participate in after-hours support, planned shutdowns, weekend work, and emergency response when required.

Traits we believe will make a strong candidate:

- High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical degree, apprenticeship, or industrial maintenance certification preferred.

- Five or more years of progressive industrial maintenance experience, including experience leading complex repairs or coordinating maintenance work, preferred.

- Working knowledge of machine shop equipment such as CNC mills, lathes, drill presses, band saws, grinders, and supporting systems.

- Experience using SAP PM or a comparable computerized maintenance management system for work orders, preventive maintenance, labor, materials, backlog, and equipment history.

- Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing work, coordinate resources, communicate equipment status, and follow work through completion.

- Experience coordinating contractors, reviewing work scope, supporting safe-work permitting, and verifying completed work.

- Knowledge of root cause analysis, equipment criticality, preventive maintenance optimization, reliability principles, and maintenance performance measures.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with technicians, operators, engineers, production leaders, contractors, and suppliers.

- Experience with change-control requirements and disciplined technical documentation; follows established procedures and escalates risks appropriately.

- Ability to work occasionally on-call, nights, weekends, shutdowns, or extended hours as required by projects and equipment breakdowns.

- Improving equipment uptime through timely prioritization, troubleshooting, escalation, repair coordination, and return-to-service validation.

- Restoring and sustaining preventive maintenance schedule compliance while reducing overdue work and unmanaged backlog.

- Improving SAP work-order quality, labor and material capture, failure documentation, and timely closeout.

- Providing clear, accurate, and timely equipment-status communication to Maintenance, Production, and other stakeholders.

- Reducing repeat failures, avoidable contractor dependence, emergency purchases, and unnecessary repair delays.

- Developing technician capability through coaching, knowledge transfer, and consistent work expectations.

- Demonstrating integrity, accountability, teamwork, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
