The Opportunity

We are seeking a Specialist, Technical – Business Planning Architecture to join our Operating Model team in Toronto, Ontario or Sudbury, Ontario or Saint John’s, Newfoundland.

This is a permanent position reporting to the Head of Operating Model . The Specialist will play a critical role in coordinating and continuously improving Vale Base Metals' integrated business planning cycle, ensuring alignment across the Strategic Guidance, Resource Development Plan (RDP), Life of Business Plan (LoBP), and Budget processes.

The successful candidate will act as a key governance owner, connecting stakeholders across the business to deliver an effective, integrated planning process. This role requires strong project management, stakeholder influence, process design, and executive communication capabilities to drive enterprise-wide outcomes and support better decision-making across VBM.

This is a highly visible role with frequent interaction with senior leaders across the organization and the opportunity to directly influence how the company plans, allocates resources, and creates value.

About You

You are a proactive and highly organized professional who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments. You have experience leading enterprise planning, PMO (Project Management Office), transformation, or governance initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.

You are comfortable influencing without direct authority, navigating ambiguity, resolving conflicting viewpoints, and maintaining momentum toward key business objectives. You take ownership, exercise sound judgment, and consistently deliver high-quality outputs with minimal direction.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the overarching governance and coordination of VBM's integrated Business Planning cycle (Strategic Guidance, RDP, LoBP and Budget), partnering with the owners of each of these processes, who remain accountable for its content.

• Act as an active project manager for the cycle: manage the calendar, milestones, dependencies and governance forums, keeping pace and alignment across stakeholders.

• Drive alignment across Technical, Operations, Finance, Strategy, Commercial, HR, Sustainability, Business Units and related areas, and support bringing more areas into the Operating Model cycle to strengthen planning and the business cadence.

• Anticipate risks and opportunities and take the lead in proposing mitigation or capture plans, engaging the right people early, then drive them to resolution and escalate when required.

• Own and continuously improve the cycle's governance framework (RACIs, playbooks and interfaces), simplifying and standardizing to increase planning maturity. Ensure process owners keep their processes formalized and current in VBM's applicable process and normative document systems, actively supporting them to do so.

• Coordinate executive reviews, workshops and planning forums, and develop executive-ready presentations, updates and recommendations.

• Monitor cycle progress and effectiveness through KPIs, ensuring checks and balances are in place and that decisions, actions and accountabilities are documented and followed through.

• Build consensus across functions with differing priorities, influencing stakeholders toward the best outcomes for VBM as a whole.

- Experience designing, implementing, or improving business processes, operating models, or governance frameworks.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and deliver outcomes without direct authority.
- Experience preparing presentations, recommendations, and updates for senior leaders and executive audiences.
- Experience within mining, metals, natural resources, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, or other asset-intensive industries is considered an asset.
- PMO, Transformation Office, or Management Consulting experience is considered an asset
