About this role

Job Overview

Arrowstreet Capital is seeking a senior technical leader to design, operate, secure, automate, and troubleshoot our enterprise DevOps platforms. This role requires deep expertise in GitLab (or similar platforms), Artifactory (or similar platforms), Linux, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, networking, monitoring, and disaster recovery.

Our current environment includes GitLab and JFrog Artifactory, but direct experience with these products is not required. We welcome candidates with comparable enterprise experience in platforms such as GitHub Enterprise, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Sonatype Nexus, or similar tools.

The successful candidate will serve as a senior technical authority and production escalation point, ensuring our platforms are highly available, secure, scalable, observable, and recoverable.

Responsibilities

- Architect, deploy, administer, secure, upgrade, and optimize enterprise GitLab and JFrog Artifactory environments.
- Design GitLab and Artifactory architectures for high availability, scalability, performance, disaster recovery, and geographic redundancy. Manage GitLab components, runners, CI/CD integrations, repositories, projects, groups, users, roles, and permissions.
- Manage Artifactory repositories, Docker/OCI registries, Helm repositories, artifact replication, retention, promotion, and lifecycle policies. Administer and troubleshoot Linux systems, including performance, storage, networking, services, security, patching, and capacity.
- Design and support Docker and production Kubernetes/EKS environments, including networking, storage, RBAC, ingress, autoscaling, and Helm deployments.
- Architect and operate AWS infrastructure using services such as EC2, EKS, S3, EBS/EFS, RDS, IAM, VPC, ELB, Route 53, KMS, CloudWatch, and Systems Manager.
- Configure and troubleshoot iptables, AWS Security Groups, Network ACLs, DNS, routing, NAT, proxies, load balancers, and TLS.
- Develop Python, Terraform, and Ansible automation and API integrations for provisioning, administration, inventory collection, monitoring, reporting, and recovery.
- Implement alerts for inventory failures, stale or incomplete data, API errors, unauthorized access changes, excessive permissions, orphaned resources, and ownership anomalies.
- Design efficient monitoring, dashboards, health checks, and actionable alerts while reducing noise and alert fatigue.
- Lead production troubleshooting across applications, Linux, containers, Kubernetes, AWS, databases, storage, networks, identity systems, and CI /CD services.
- Conduct root-cause analyses and convert recurring incidents into permanent fixes, automation, or monitoring improvements.
- Create, organize, test, and maintain support runbooks, escalation procedures, architecture documentation, and operational knowledge bases. Design and test disaster-recovery scenarios with defined RTOs and RPOs.
- Mentor team members and collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, security, identity, compliance, and vendor teams.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide senior escalation support for critical incidents.
- Perform planned maintenance, upgrades, migrations, and DR exercises outside standard business hours when required.
- Work collaboratively with distributed technical and business teams.

Qualifications

- Significant production experience architecting and administering GitLab, GitHub Enterprise, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Jfrog Artifactory, Sonatype Nexus, or similar tools.
- Expert-level Linux system administration and production troubleshooting skills.
- Strong hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, and AWS architecture and operations.
- Advanced Python automation skills, including REST APIs, Boto3, testing, logging, metrics, and error handling.
- Strong networking and security knowledge, including iptables, TCP/IP, DNS, routing, NAT, TLS, proxies, and load balancing. Experience designing highly available, scalable, secure, observable, and recoverable systems.
- Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management, preferably Terraform and Ansible.
- Experience building effective monitoring and alerting with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Elastic Stack. Demonstrated ability to lead high-impact production incidents and perform cross-layer root-cause analysis.
- Experience creating and maintaining operational runbooks and searchable support documentation.
- Experience designing and testing backups, restores, failover, failback, and disaster-recovery procedures.
- Experience facilitating game days or incident simulations to strengthen team readiness.
- Strong communication, documentation, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with AI code reviews and security scans
- Experience with GitLab Geo and large-scale GitLab Runner environments
- Experience with JFrog Xray, Curation and other JFrog Platform products
- Experience with Helm, and Kubernetes security controls
- Knowledge of LDAP, Active Directory, SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, and access governance Familiarity with SBOMs, artifact signing, container security, and software supply-chain security Relevant AWS, Kubernetes, Linux, GitLab, or JFrog certifications
