About this role
Lead a team of Lease Operators in the Eagle Ford and keep the wells that matter most producing.
Why this role matters
Flywheel is adding four Production Team Leads to its Eagle Ford operation in South Texas. The Team Lead is where daily planning, people and hands-on problem solving meet, so the field works safely, stays compliant and spends its time on the highest-value wells.
Each Production Team Lead runs a team of 5 to 10 Lease Operators across a set of routes. You will plan the next one to three days of field work, coach and grow your people, and stay hands-on with the hardest well and equipment problems. You will own your team's measures (production against forecast, downtime, runtime and operating cost) and work with engineering and optimization to fix repeat failures.
Location: Gonzales, TX (field-based)
Schedule: Full-time, with on-call rotation (4 openings)
Department: Operations
Reports to: Supervisor of Production
What you'll own
Lead and Develop Your Team
- Lead a team of about 5 to 10 Lease Operators; hold monthly one-on-ones and take part in quarterly performance reviews
- Give direct feedback, reinforce strong performance, and address performance and conduct issues early with your Supervisor and HR
- Make sure each team member has written, agreed responsibilities and a development plan
- Act as lead trainer for new hires and keep everyone current on required training
Drive Daily Field Execution
- Own the 1 to 3 day plan for your routes in support of the weekly operations plan
- Prioritize unplanned work and raise bottlenecks early to everyone affected
- Set and track your team's measures: production against forecast, downtime, runtime and operating cost
- Lead your team's part of the daily tag-up and the weekly tactical meeting
- Put the highest-value wells first when the team cannot get to everything
Keep Wells Producing
- Troubleshoot and repair wells, tank batteries and surface equipment, and coach operators through hard problems
- Diagnose artificial lift (mainly gas lift and rod pump, plus jet pump and plunger) using fluid levels, dynamometer cards and SCADA trends
- Make sure every down well has a downtime reason recorded the same day
- Bring repeat failures to the weekly tactical with new solutions and work with engineering and optimization to fix them
Safety, Environment and Compliance
- Think step by step on high-risk work, follow written procedures and stop unsafe work
- Report hazards, near misses and incidents, and close corrective actions on time
- Take part in incident investigations and root cause failure analysis
- Manage field-level regulatory work for your area under Texas Railroad Commission and TCEQ rules, and fix issues found on inspections
Contractors, Cost and Projects
- Oversee contractors and vendors on your routes; review and approve field tickets within your approval limit, coded correctly as expense or capital
- Plan and schedule small field projects and repairs that do not need a roustabout crew
- Find ways to cut failures, extend run life and lower lease operating expense
- Use Flywheel's digital tools (work management, production allocation, SCADA, HSE reporting and dashboards) to plan work and challenge priorities
Qualifications
What you bring

- Valid driver's license, clean driving record and the ability to drive long distances across the field
- Comfortable with production software, Microsoft Office and Teams

Working conditions
Outdoor field work in South Texas heat, cold and rain, with daily driving on lease roads in a company vehicle. Required PPE includes FR clothing.

What success looks like
- First 30 days: Learn your routes, wells and team. Meet one-on-one with each operator and review current downtime and repeat failures.
- First 90 days: Own the 1 to 3 day plan, lead your team's daily tag-up, and have written responsibilities in place for every operator.
- First year: Your routes are beating forecast with less downtime, repeat failures are trending down, and every operator has a development plan.
How we work: 100% Awesome Teammates
High-performing, self-directed teams made up of 100% awesome teammates: people who are very good at their jobs and who live our core behaviors every day. Every new hire should raise our ability to reach our goals, so we are ridiculously selective about who joins us.
- Do the Right Thing. Responsible development, honest feedback and doing what we said we would. In this role: Stop unsafe work, record every downtime reason the same day, and deal with performance issues early and fairly.
- Do it as a Team. No silos. Information moves between teams as freely as it does within one. In this role: Run a daily tag-up where operators, engineering and optimization share what they know and move together.
- Get Results. Disciplined execution and value creation. We measure ourselves by outcomes. In this role: Production against forecast, less downtime and lower operating cost on your routes.
Is this you?
Successful Flywheelers are hungry, humble and people smart.
- Hungry: You bring new solutions to repeat failures instead of fixing the same well twice.
- Humble: You stay hands-on, coach your operators through hard problems and let them own the win.
- People Smart: You give direct feedback that people can hear and act on, and you know how each operator works best.
