About Bexorg

Bexorg is a precision neurology company working to improve how new medicines for central nervous system (CNS) diseases are discovered and developed.

Our team sits at the intersection of cutting-edge neuroscience, AI, engineering, and translational drug development. This work requires scientific rigor, responsible stewardship, and close collaboration across disciplines.

We are looking for people who are curious, accountable, and ready to tackle unique challenges. At Bexorg, you will work alongside colleagues who ask thoughtful questions, share ideas openly, and take ownership for moving complex work forward.

Whether your background is in neuroscience, biology, engineering, data science, or operations, you can help build a stronger foundation for decisions that shape new CNS medicines.

The role

You are an experienced bench lead for our day-to-day culture, assay and imaging work. You will run methods on your own from start to finish, fix them when they break, write and own our protocols, and train junior technicians. You will also help us improve how our methods run as the team grows.

What you will do

• Run core methods independently and troubleshoot them: organotypic human brain slice culture and cell culture, drug screening in multi-well plates, CellTiter-Glo, pyruvate and lactate assays, qPCR, RNAscope, cryosectioning, immunofluorescence staining and fluorescence imaging.

• Write, test and keep up to date the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for these methods.

• Plan weekly bench schedule with scientists: plate layouts, dosing schedules, assay time points and imaging slots.

• Lead the night shift on rotation and be the go-to person for culture or equipment problems out of hours.

• Train junior technicians, check their skills on each method and sign off when they can work alone.

• Own data quality: confirm controls behaved, flag outliers and failed runs, and keep assay performance logs.

• Keep complete, accurate records of samples, treatments and results in our electronic lab notebook and sample-tracking systems.

• Look after key instruments: routine care, calibration checks and vendor service visits.

• Work with our engineering team to improve and standardize lab methods, and test changes at the bench.

• Prepare and ship samples to outside partners with correct labels, packing on dry ice and chain-of-custody records.

• Manage lab stock, ordering, lab organization, and safety practice for the team's work area.

What you need

• A bachelor's degree in biology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering or a related field, or an associate degree with equivalent hands-on experience.

• At least 5 years of hands-on work as a research or laboratory technician in an academic, hospital or industry lab (7+ years with an associate degree).

• A track record of running these methods on your own, not only assisting: cell or tissue culture, fluorescence microscopy, qPCR, and at least one plate-based viability or metabolic assay (such as CellTiter-Glo or lactate).

• Hands-on cryosectioning of fixed or frozen tissue.

• Experience writing SOPs and training others at the bench.

• Willingness to work and lead rotating night shifts and weekends.

• Comfort working with human post-mortem tissue under biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) practice.

• Steady hands and close attention to detail when handling delicate tissue.

• Careful, organized record keeping.

• Able to plan and prioritize your own work with minimal supervision, and to communicate clearly with scientists and engineers.

• Can do attitude.

Nice to have

• RNAscope on tissue sections, and multiplex immunofluorescence.

• Organotypic slice culture, primary neural culture, or work with human brain or other human tissue.

• Drug screening and compound handling in 96- or 384-well formats, including liquid handlers.

• Work in an industry or regulated setting (for example GLP) with an electronic lab notebook (ELN) or laboratory information management system (LIMS).

• Experience in a core facility, cell bank or quality-control lab.

• Basic image analysis in Fiji (ImageJ) or similar tools.

Physical requirements

• Standing and working at the bench, hood, microscope or cryostat for long periods.

• Lifting 25lbs or more.

• Safe handling of sharp blades, liquid nitrogen, dry ice and human tissue, with personal protective equipment (PPE).

Please include a CV and a short note describing the lab methods you have run yourself.
