About this role

Position Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and validation of mechanical systems for heavy-duty vehicle applications. This role will serve as a key technical contributor in the development of fluid power systems, focusing on hydraulics and pneumatics that drive vehicle functionality, performance, and reliability. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing hydraulic and pneumatic architectures, selecting components, and collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

###

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and integrate hydraulic and pneumatic systems for heavy-duty vehicle platforms.
- Create and optimize hydraulic and pneumatic routing, hose and tube layouts, and system packaging within vehicle constraints.
- Perform engineering calculations, analysis, and trade studies to support component sizing, system performance, pressure requirements, flow rates, and overall system efficiency.
- Select valves, pumps, cylinders, actuators, fittings, reservoirs, compressors, regulators, and other fluid-power components based on functional and performance requirements.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including detailed drawings, specifications, schematics, installation layouts, design standards, and bills of material (BOMs).
- Support design reviews and evaluate systems for functionality, safety, serviceability, manufacturability, durability, and regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams to resolve production and assembly issues related to mechanical and fluid-power systems.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical system failures during development, testing, and production activities.
- Work closely with suppliers to review component specifications, evaluate technical solutions, and support design implementation.
- Participate in prototype builds, testing activities, and validation efforts to ensure systems meet performance and reliability targets.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering disciplines, project teams, manufacturing personnel, and technical stakeholders to deliver integrated vehicle solutions.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, product development, or vehicle systems design.
- Strong understanding of fluid-power principles, including hydraulic and pneumatic system design.
- Experience developing hydraulic and pneumatic routing layouts for mobile equipment, heavy-duty vehicles, or industrial machinery.
- Proven experience performing component sizing calculations and selecting fluid-power components.
- Ability to interpret and create engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Experience supporting products through design, testing, and manufacturing phases.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in mechanical and fluid-power applications.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with CAD software for mechanical design and system layout development.
- Experience working with heavy-duty vehicles, off-highway equipment, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, or other mobile hydraulic systems.
- Familiarity with design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) principles.
- Knowledge of vehicle integration, packaging considerations, and production support activities.
- Experience collaborating with suppliers and managing component-level technical requirements.
