In practice, that means sharing ownership, solving complex problems together and staying connected to the customer context, the purpose behind the work and how each role contributes to meaningful outcomes.
The Civil Digital Modernisation business delivers IT services to Australian Federal and State Government departments and agencies to accelerate digital modernisation and ensure secure, resilient, and adaptive environments that meet evolving regulatory, compliance, and business needs. Our approach integrates advancing data, AI, cloud, and automation delivering agility, security, efficiency, and innovation at scale.
The Opportunity
As the Project Manager – Data Centre Migration & Organisational Change, you will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, coordination and delivery of complex data centre migration activities, with a strong focus on Organisational Change Management, stakeholder readiness and operational transition.
You will coordinate technical and business workstreams through discovery, design, build, migration, cutover, validation and hypercare, helping ensure impacted business and technology teams are prepared for changes to infrastructure, operating processes, support arrangements, responsibilities and service delivery.
Acting as the integration point between technical delivery, business stakeholders, service operations, vendors and change activities, you will help ensure each migration is both technically successful and effectively adopted operationally.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead end-to-end data centre migration planning and delivery across discovery, design, build, migration, cutover, validation and hypercare, coordinating migration waves, technical dependencies, readiness criteria, go/no-go activities and post-migration reviews.
- Integrate Organisational Change Management into migration delivery through stakeholder and change-impact assessments, organisational-readiness activities, communications, engagement and the ongoing tracking of business and OCM readiness alongside technical readiness.
- Build collaborative relationships across technical teams, application owners, business operations, service management, leadership, vendors and third-party providers, facilitating workshops and establishing clear responsibilities, decision-making and escalation pathways.
- Coordinate business and operational readiness, including business validation, service verification, documentation, runbooks, knowledge transfer, support arrangements, hypercare and transition into BAU operations.
- Maintain project governance across scope, schedule, budget, resources, RAID, dependencies, decisions and milestones, providing clear migration reporting and dashboards covering technical, business and OCM readiness, risks and outcomes.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings judgement, curiosity and a collaborative approach to work that matters.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience managing complex data centre migrations, infrastructure transformation or technology transition programs, with strong knowledge of discovery, dependency mapping, migration-wave planning, cutover and hypercare.
- Experience incorporating Organisational Change Management into technology delivery, including stakeholder analysis, change-impact assessments, organisational-readiness assessments and stakeholder communications.
- Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills across technical, operational, business and executive audiences, with an ability to translate technical migration activities into clear business impacts and actions.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary infrastructure teams across areas such as network, compute, storage, backup, security, identity and applications, together with an understanding of IT service transition and operational handover.
- Strong project governance, risk management and executive reporting capability, including experience establishing migration readiness criteria and go/no-go processes. Experience with live production data centre migrations, constrained outage windows, formal qualifications such as PMP or PRINCE2, and critical infrastructure, government, utilities or highly regulated environments will be highly regarded.
