The Opportunity
Moonee Valley Libraries is looking for a friendly and proactive Library Customer Service and Program Support Officer to help deliver welcoming, inclusive and accessible library services. In this role, you’ll support customers to make the most of library services, from accessing online resources and using library technology to finding information and navigating self-service facilities. You’ll also help with the day-to-day running of the library, including opening and closing procedures, supporting story time sessions for young children and providing relief across different library locations as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, responsive and inclusive customer service, proactively engaging with customers and helping them access library services and facilities.
- Assist customers with computers, photocopiers, Wi-Fi, library apps, eBooks, online resources and a range of digital devices.
- Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the library, including completing opening and closing procedures when rostered.
- Assist with story time sessions for babies, toddlers and preschool-aged children under the direction of the Children and Youth Services Technician.
- Work collaboratively with library colleagues and provide customer service support at other library locations when required.
- Respond to routine customer enquiries and resolve day-to-day issues, seeking guidance from senior staff when needed.
Skills & Experience
You will have successfully completed Year 12 and bring demonstrated experience in frontline customer service, along with a genuine commitment to providing positive experiences for customers from diverse backgrounds. You will have a good understanding of the role public libraries play in the community, strong computer and mobile technology skills, and confidence navigating online resources and digital environments. Well-developed communication, organisation and time management skills will help you manage competing priorities in a busy service environment. You will also enjoy working as part of a team, be comfortable working with minimal supervision and demonstrate a flexible, inclusive and customer-focused approach. Experience working in a public library will be highly regarded.
